EJC novelties: Sundia, Babache and Epic next models
« on: September 09, 2015, 12:36:47 pm »
Hi there,

I want to stay as neutral as possible so I will just mention my slight first impression. Also, I am not an expert, so if anybody sees wrong information please let me know.

Sundia
Good information from nev in this post http://diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?topic=12528.msg117562#msg117562
In the EJC this year I could meet Ryo Yabe, who designs models for Sundia, (I have read that all of them), and Hagiwara Takashi and they had a bunch of new diabolos, quite interesting ones.
Sundia Evolution G2 It is the one that was being sold during 2013-2015, it has a hard plastic in the cups and a metalic ring around the cup. In the website they say that they are going to stop selling this ones soon. In case you have them and you want to be sure you never run out of them. I have this ones, I like them, but I do not use them as preferred diabolos.

Sundia Evolution G2 - without advanced acceleration This is cheaper, so I guess it is a bit worse, and the difference is that it takes more time to accelerate (here I am trusting google translation from Japanese to Spanish, so...)
http://radfactor.shop-pro.jp/?pid=92853842
Sundia Evolution G3 This is the new model. The main differences is that the plastic in the cups is softer compared to a G1, kind of like a circus, and the rings that used to be metallic in the G1, are plastic made. I tried them too little to comment, but I liked the softness.

Sundia Evolution G3 - without advanced acceleration Same story as with G2
http://radfactor.shop-pro.jp/?pid=93118805
Sanbairin 5 bearing (Google suggested the usage of Sanbairin term, apparently it means triple bearing)  You can see Alexis is alredy doing madness with these ones, probably they are very good as all sundia bearing products.

Mr. Babache
Fascination a.k.a the Tony Frebourgh diabolo. I got two for testing and I like them, they have very soft cups. Probably still some time till they are available in stores.

Epic Juggling
EPIC 2015 (I actually have no idea if they have another name) They sponsored the diabolo battle, and now there are many around in Europe, so you will be hearing opinions. I quite like them, I use them now.

I was trying the Fascination diabolo in the EJC in Poland and it was pretty good. I'm surprised that it is still not available  :-|

Side note: the prototype that was produced for previous years may not match the final model. I have never tried the prototype, but I was told that.

Why are they stop selling the Sundia Evolution G2 ones  :(
I really wanna buy them still because they look like one of the best overall fixed axle Diabolos out there. Weird that the G3 won't have a metall ring.
But let's just wait and see how the G3 will be :)

Well, if the designer is the same it is fair to assume he keeps improving it. I tried G3 a little bit and I liked them, but they quite differ, the touch is more circus like if I properly recall. Anyway I am happy I got 4 G2 as a present for myself affter a bad day at work :)

Thanks JC! So we need to meet in the next EJC :)
Would it be possible to have in a single picture, the normal circus axle, your previous JC axle, and the current ULK in order to see the difference in size?

Nice post Wiz - the info regarding the Sundia stuff is not quite rights though....

The Evo g2 has always come with the plastic type stability ring (at least those supplied since mid to late 2014)
Only the original g1 version had the metal ring (and possibly the very first batch of g2 cups were shipped with metal rings) - but since then all Evo's have had rings made of some kind of plastic
I do still have a very limited supply of the ones with metal rings http://diabolomoves.co.uk/diabolos/store/comersus_listItems.asp?idCategory=97
And at sale price too !

Otherwise all Evo are currently G2 with the plastic type stability rings. - the G3 cups are not yet available and won't be for some time in Europe
Here is the currently available Evo models (inc 2 special colours)
http://diabolomoves.co.uk/diabolos/store/comersus_listItems.asp?idCategory=98

And the bearing Diabolo you speak of is actually a new 5 bearing Diabolo - in Europe it's officially called the Evo 5° Diabolo - Pronounced Evo Five Degree
That is available here http://diabolomoves.co.uk/diabolos/store/comersus_listItems.asp?idCategory=99

Thanks Nev! Saying out loud wrong information is a good way to get right information :)

So apparently I have G1 evos. Definitely the text in your website is very explanatory for the difference between G1 and G2.

I link your post in the original post :)

2016

If I am not mistaken the most important updates from this EJC were:
- New models from Sundia
- Hyperspin diabolo (I will post a review in short time)
- I think is the first year we could buy J-Slides

And there is a guy, Dani, trying to make some research, this information is useful for Europeans liking Sundia Evo diabolos
„G3” from Radfactor and „G2c” from Diabolomoves ARE NOT THE SAME MODEL.

Diabolomoves' „EVOG2” corresponds to „エボリューションG2プラス (Evolution G2 plus)” en Radfactor. they're fixed axle. http://radfactor.net/?pid=87068746

„EVOG2c” de Diabolomoves corresponds to „ウーバイリンG2” from Radfactor. It's a 5bearing: http://radfactor.net/?pid=98130415. (Dani's note: I think he actually means Evo 5° from Diabolomoves)

„エボリューションG3” from Radfactor is a fixed axle diab that is ONLY SOLD IN JAPAN: http://radfactor.net/?pid=91265833
It's base on „G2” but the material is different. Same with model „シャオリン" (chinese name...).

Hi Wis

The G3 from radfactor in Japan and the G2c sold in my shop ARE the same model.

Sorry for any confusion regarding the names...
Basically Sundia released the transparent Evo cups on the 5 bearing model and called it the Evo5 G2.  (Sundia had never officially named the fixed axle Evo's as G1 / G2 etc - that naming was given by Ryo in Japan and adopted by myself..).

So with the transparent cups.. Ryo called the 5 bearing version G2 but he already had used G2 for the fixed axle version so he called the fixed axle transparent cups G3 - but it is the same cup on both (it's made from the same material as the shining diabolos) - it's the same shape / size etc as the solid colour G2 - just made from different material.

I thought using G3 for the fixed axle and G2 for the bearing version of the same Diabolo was somewhat confusing so I decided I would call them BOTH G2c (G2 clear) as it's basically based on the G2 model but with transparent cups....

Hope that all makes sense and sorry if I added to the confusion.

Some updates from FB, also from Nev
UPDATE: Despite me double checking and confirming with Sundia before my previous post - It has since come to light that Ryo DOES in fact have a different softer cup material on his fixed axle G3. It was a material that Sundia had originally tried and rejected for the 5 Bearing (because it was too soft to hold its shape at very high speed). So the cups I have (on the G2c) are the newer but firmer version designed to perform on both Fixed and 5 Bearing. If people want the softer fixed axle only cups - I will get some in asap.

It was a material that Sundia had originally tried and then rejected for the new 5 Bearing (because it was too soft to hold its shape at very high speed).
So the cups I have (on the G2c) are the newer firmer version designed to perform well on both Fixed and 5 Bearing.  They have a similar "squashability" to the solid colour G2's (maybe a touch firmer).

I believe both versions of the transparent Evo cups were prevalent at EJC - Sundia themselves never sold the older soft style cups - so the CAPT team etc from Taiwan would have been using the firmer G2c cups -  but there will have no doubt been some of the soft cup versions from Japan in circulation too.

Really sorry for the confusion

If people want the softer fixed axle only cups - I will get some in asap.

EDIT - haha - Wiz beat me to the post..

Just to add (to try and clarify for anyone who tried any at EJC) - if it was bearing or any other colour than transparent Red Blue or Black - then it was almost certainly the firmer cup (same as on G2c)  If it was Fixed axle in transparent Red, Blue or Black then it could have been either the firm or the soft cup depending on whether it came from Japan or anywhere other than Japan (as the soft cups have only ever been sold in Japan as far as I know).

UPDATE:  forgot to let folks know I've had the soft cup version here  for a while also (exact same as what is now called G3 Soft type in Japan)  In Europe its still called G2c (Soft) though - G3 was never an official Sundia name for it.
