3 Diabolos Asynch Tricks Tutorial by Fred
« on: December 03, 2004, 09:46:35 pm »
Fred (-Fred-) has kindly filmed a video tutorial on some 3 diabolo tricks using an asynch pattern.

He covers the following first in one continuous shot ( ) and he then covers each trick in order in slow motion.

- wrap start
- sun
- 42
- 441
- whipping a diabolo for speed
- some corrections
- his ending

Please "save target as"....

Thank you for putting this together Fred. I'm sure it will be very useful for many people not only now but also in the future both for inspiration and as a tool to learn these tricks. :)

If you haven't already seen his website, you should have a look. He has some excellent videos there!

Anyone else want to film a video tutorial?

That`s amazing! good job! but the wrap doesn`t work for me (still). Do you suggest henry`s better then mister babache to learn the wrap start? I so long practice on it.

Well I'd be interested to hear Fred's opinion on this too, but personally I don't think it matters all that much. I do think it is much harder to keep wide axled finesses going in a 3 diabolo pattern, just because they are much less stable - especially at low speeds.

From all my classes in motor learning and practice theory it would make sense that heavier diabolos (ie. Henrys) would make learning new movements slightly easier but that even more important might be switching between light and heavy diabolos - variety in the circumstances of the movement. Learning is greatest when practice is done under a variety of conditions.

In all truthfullness, by far the most important factor is the amount of time (the 100's and 100's of hours) put into practice, not what diabolos, string, or sticks you use. But those aren't my words... that's what Trash always says when someone asks on jongle.net. ;)

One piece of usefull advice that Baptiste gave me was to initially work with different coloured diabolos, or at least with one diabolo of a different colour. It helps to follow that one different coloured diabolo to time the unwrap and to figure out what the heck went wrong when diabolos end up all over the place afterwards! ;) Later, it helps to use the diabolo of a different colour as the wrapped diabolo so that you can keep track of how much your shuffle motion is speeding up (or slowing down) that diabolo.

No, more so a piece of diabolo.ca forum nostalgia.

Thanks for uploading it. I've given it a more permanent home and updated the first post with the link.
