What conventions are you planning to go to this year...?
« on: February 06, 2006, 07:58:14 pm »
I know info on each festival has been posted but it would be wicked to know which conventions each of you are attending. As well as finding out who's going to whatever, people may find out about conventions they previously didn't know of and lifts and transport can be arranged as a result

Here's my to do list:

BJC, 20th-23rd April. Bodmin, Cornwall
Firetoys firegathering, 19th-21st May. Brighton, England

Hopefully:

EJC, 9th-15 July. Millstreet, Ireland

Fire away people...
Rennes July 10-17th 2011!

I'm planning to go to:

EJC 2006 July 9th - 15th (Booked my ferry tickets last night, can't wait)
Chocfest 11th February
Ballring 2006 18th February
Nott Another Juggling Convention 4th March
BJC 20th - 23rd April (Just found out I’m off for it so anyone have some spare tent space?)
11th Birmingham Circus Convention 29th April (the 10th one was my first convention)
Bungay Balls Up 20th - 29th May
World Juggling Day 16th - 18th June
Durham City Jugglers 10th 14th - 15th October
Gloucestershire County Yoyo Contest March 26th

I'm also going to try and get to any other conventions that pop up I may even go to EPJC 2, I missed loads due to basketball up to now but from now on conventions come first.

i hate all of you living in europe! according to this, there are only 3 juggling events even CLOSE to the west coast of the US this year.

there's a chance i'll drive up to the IJA in Oregon, but that's about it :/

alright, it's time to practice, so i can get super good and convention leaders will pay me to visit their events all over the world

You're coming to those?  Yay!   (yes, that's a deliberate misunderstanding, but it would still be good)

edit - And my own list: Llama_bill's list is the closest to mine so far!  Except I can't make it to the Ballring.  Add the Bristol 9 dayer to that, and whichever others haven't been advertised much yet (Manchester, hopefully Sheffield and Leeds will happen, Crawley, the British Unicycling Convention, etc).

I'm not sure if you're thinking of the Ladywood one there.  That's the other Brum convention, and is always around that date.

Going to the weekend parts of the BJC and firegathering looks doable.. and I'm hoping to go to the EJC :D
but EJC means taking time off of work and lots of planning, so it might not be doable.. who knows.

Phunky might come with me to any/all of the above, depending on school commitments and wether mum will let him ride pillion on my bike ;)

To the (south) UK EJC goers: which ferry are you taking? Swansea-cork is 2h less travel this end and 1h less the other end when compared to fishguard-rosslare, but it takes 10 hours, wheras fishguard to rosslare on the cat takes just two hours.. so you get there quicker, but at the price of extra time on the road and less rest on the ferry .

Hopefully:
BJC 06 - might take time off work for this.
Bristol 9 dayer - hopefully go a bit longer to this one depending on Uni Freshers' Week
Perhaps the EJC - looks unlikely though.
Maybe Crawley...

I'm gonna try this year, but one year, I'm gonna spank loads of money travelling to conventions.
Not really sure how much further I'm prepared to travel up though.  Damn northerners, you've got 5-6 conventions in a 50 miles radius (my geography is a lil sketchy), either way, far too many northerners getting the convention scene.

And je4d, I would very much opt for the Swansea to Cork ferry if you're not seasick.  Cork is much closer than Rosslaire and you'll appreciate the time on the ferry when you don't have to drive.  Fishguard is missions to get to from the south.

the nottingham one dayer on 12th feb
the ball ring on the 18th feb
najc on the 4th march

i read somewhere (can't remember where though, the sheffield flying teapots forum?) that shefcon has been pencilled in for the 25th and 26th march this year, can anyone confirm that? either way i'll definitely be going, as it was great last year.

see you all there!

Very good point! I meant to go this year but found my uwe freshers week clashed with the same week in question.  We start a week later in the second year so I'm definitely down for the full 9 days this september, looking forward to seeing most of you there.

The Bristol Juggling Convention is an odd one in that it's hardly ever advertised by itself.  It normally gets around by word of mouth and if you're on the mailing list, you get a new flyer every year.  It happens in September about the third week, so this year it'll be 16th Sept - 24th Sept.

Jay Linn and others normally pimp it up on his website and although it doesn't sounds grand, it's a bit different.  It's more of a jugglers' camping holiday than a convention but it's still great if the weather is right.  I went to Bristol for the first time last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I hate camping so I slept in my car.

I'll be going to RIT in April.  As well, there is a small fest in Waterloo Ontario on March 11th & 12th.  I'm also hoping to get to the Montreal, Quebec festival May 5th - 7th.  I believe Matt Hall is supposed to be there.  Not sure if the IJA fest is in the cards this year.  Would be nice to see Portland, though.

Hiya peops...

We're once again putting on the Fire Gathering in May. For those of you who don't know about it, its a cross between a juggling convention and a music festival that we run as a non-profit private event. Its always great fun and even though the Firetoys crew run it, its non-commercial (we don't have a stall there) and all the dosh goes towards artists and entertainment.

Last year we sold out about 2 weeks before the event, so this year we've increased the number of spaces to 500. Details are on the website. Hope some of you can make it...

Well... since I go to RIT, and I'm in the RIT Juggling club... I'll be at the RIT Juggle-In, but probably helping to run it more than actually juggling, but hopefully I'll have some time to practice Diaboloing, maybe somebody could show me some things?
