[WJF] Jason says "WOW"
« on: January 04, 2005, 11:03:56 pm »
Because it's fun and important for diabolo in america, I just want to share the feedback from Jason Garfield, who discovered (like most american jugglers), during WJF what is diabolo today.
(this email was sent to Matt Hall, Ryo Yabe, and the MFP)
===============================================
Hey guys,

So, I'm capturing all the diabolo footage right now and I'm nowhere
near being done and I am absolutely amazed. I can't believe or
understand how the **** you guys do this stuff and I'm sitting here
involuntarily dropping my jaw and making noises. My neighbors probably
think I'm playing gay porn but it's just unbelievable stuff. You guys
are great and I'm glad you all came. I'm starting to think about next
year and I hope you all will be able to come. You guys represented
diabolo at the highest level and I'm gonna edit this all together to
make people react the way that I am now - nonstop. Thank you all for
coming. I hope we'll do it again soon.

Jason

Thanks Jason !

thats an amazing compliment coming from jason, kind of expected him to say 'what is this feeble object manipulation with only 3 things' or 'it just aint jugglin with one object'.

You guys should all feel very proud, but as with everyone else in this forum we completely agree and live constantly in your shadows

congrats and keep up the good work

Id also like to add that one of the main reasons diabolo skills improve so much every year is because everyone is willing to share there videos online, Don't have to buy a new video everytime someone creates a new trick!

In the juggling community its nearly impossible to get a video of the best jugglers, especially of world records. Anthonny gatto removed all his videos because people watched them?!?!? never been able to find a video of jason garfield (aprt from the WJF one)or albert lucas juggling (apart from  him doing 3 club alberts, not great comparedto 13 rings).

If jugglers were less up themselves and more laid back like diabolists, they could be improving just as quickly.

So a big thank you to everyone that has ever submitted a video to  the internet, i dont know if id have ever learnt or considered two diabolos if it wasnt for you lot (cheers Dave mainly).

try http://jasongarfield.com/home.htm the video clips page has some crazy cool tricks on. The career timeline also has some mad IJA routines.

He is really cool in person, so i doubt he actually wants Priam to post that e-mail online, it shows his real side which i think he wants to keep for when he actually meets someone. Just a thought. But who cares.

Well done guys, a compliment on his least favourite prop is wicked, and something like that is ever better. But you did rock the WJF, and the diabolo finals should have been everyones highlight (especially Antonins routine  )

I haven't checked the Quote recently but I believe it was more because Gatto was upset by idiots Hotlinking his videos, not giving credit etc costing him bandwidth and money.

Basically videos on line are a service offered by people not a god given right. If you want to see his videos they are not that hard to find.

maybe jugglers think that they are so much ahead diabolists that they have no need to put up communities like us.. i mean juggling is so popular anyway..

and there is professional diabolists who wont share anything for free (in china and ex-soviet union..) - that "free sharing" is very good think for diabolo, but it is maybe not  good for individual professional diabolist.. just thinking.. :)
