How to submit a Video of the Week
« on: December 31, 2006, 10:55:16 pm »
Each week, a short video is featured as the Diabolo.ca Video of the Week. These videos feature tricks sent in by forum members that are original, creative, or rarely seen. Unfortunately, not all videos can be chosen, due to lack of originality or video quality. Priority will be given to original tricks with good quality video. A trick does not have to be difficult to be an excellent Video of the Week. Every submission is highly appreciated.

Duncan is currently receiving the videos. They are then discussed by a small group of forum members who decide which videos to publish.

Please keep the file size as small as possible while maintaining quality video (2-5mb is a guideline for a 10-20 sec video). Keep in mind that it's a short videoclip of the trick, and therefore it's not necessary to use titles or other special effects. If you'd like, you can put some copyright free music under your videoclip, but that's not necessary. We have decided to avoid all copyrighted music due to long term maintainability concerns with YouTube. We have already had to re-upload some videos due to copyright claims. Unless you state the music is copyright free (or you have permission) we will ask you to remove all music.

Successful submissions are posted at the beginning of each week in this section of the forum and also on YouTube under the username dcavotw. Successful applicants receive the love and admiration of other forum members, a warm fuzzy feeling from contributing to the development of the diabolo, and the member status "VOTW Contributor" under their username. Who wouldn't want that? Now, get filming!

I'd like to draw your attention to a small change in the above text:

-No music means less server space too, which is a good thing.
-So, starting now, royalty free/copyright free music or no music at all please.

In case this wasn't obvious - if you publicly post a trick you've sent us as a potential video of the week, we can no longer use it as a video of the week! We've had a few cases lately where a trick that was going to be used got posted to the forum. The idea is that it's a trick and/or clip that hasn't been seen before. If you are unsure whether your clip is going to be used, simply fire off a PM to Duncan or me.
