I've not heard anything.  I'd ask the organisers.

It will have to be nice. the judging makes Gordon Ramsey seem fluffy ;) Chocolate brownies don't cut it sadly.

My imaginary cake for this year is
three layers of sponge, bottom one chocolate, middle one orange top one chocolate liquer. chocolate chips throughout, two different flavours of cream in between. thick chocolate icing with chocolote flakes on top with chocolate sprinkles as well. (I'd make it if I could feel free to steal my recipe as long as I get a slice of it)

now to get slightly back on topic

Only a week to go, I cant wait. the first convention in ages for us in the north anyway and shaping up to have a good numbers of diaboloists. I'm looking forward to getting some advice on my three low attempts.

I was there for the judging last year - that cake sounds good, but I can already imagine the judges saying 'Not chocolate.' and shaking their heads sadly at the orange sponge section.

I have a similar video camera plan, particularly with a view to gettng trick of the week type stuff, and maybe a bigger video for the group.  I guess it doesn't matter if other people do that too!

Even if its chocolate orange sponge? yeah you are probably right.
The comment on Naomis chocolate brownies at CF9.5 were along the lines of "nice and chocolately, pity you could repair the playground with it and when you get down to it not a cake!"

Sounds harsh but its really the spirit of the Chocfest chocolate cake challenge so don't let it frighten anybody from bringing theirs

The more cameras the better I reckon. As I get older I am loosing my memory so I need audio graphic aids to help me in my twilight years

Ho Hum another Chocfest gone. I have never been to a convention with as healthy a number of diaboloists!

Now we have Bradford this saturday so I thought I'd post to see who's coming. Matt_H and me from Leeds, Mattf doesn't look like he'll make it. hopefully some of the leeds Uni lot should be able to make it since the exam season is over.

bit more info on it from the organiser and a bit I have dug up myself:

"It will take place on sat 29th January 2005 and will run
> from 10am-late, in the Communal Building at Bradford University
>
> This is what will be happening during the day:
>
> Kids Area, run by Urban Circus Arts
> (basic workshops, juggling, diablo, devil sticks, spinning
> plates, tight wire, stilts)
>
> Drama Workshops
> (learn how to use your voice, move around your performance
> area and what to do when the going gets tough)
>
> Drumming Workshops
> (to be confirmed)
>
> Free Make-up
> (this could be anything you choose from fantasy styles to blood and
> guts)
>
> Animation Showcase
> (Bradford’s own student animators showcase their work for
> your entertainment while seated in the eating/bar area of the
> convention)
>
> Free Curry!
>
> Renegades Show, comp aired by the infamous Bradfordian Daryll Hackett

The lad who came to see us with Cat said that he, as part of the animation team, would be prepared to talk about video editing if asked so that might be nice for budding video makers.

The usual juggling workshops and games are likely to be involved as well.

Last years Bradford was a one of my favourites so I hope to enjoy this one just as much.

*edit: the directions above are just one way to get there, those coming by  foot or public transport might need to work out from maps etc.

I'll be there.  Last year's was a good one, and interestingly different to other conventions.  I think it's good when convention organisers have the confidence to deviate from the script.

See some of you there!
