Excalibur loosens nuts?
« on: March 09, 2008, 12:06:59 am »
Lately I've been fooling around with excalibur more often, and every couple runs I'll need to re-tighten the nuts a bit. I think this is because the string rubbing on the cups turns them, which loosens the nuts. Is there any way around this?

What are you tightening them with? If its by hand you might not be making it tight enough. Try using a tool of some sort (memory block).
Worst case: Or there could possibly be something wrong with your diabolo, but I don't want to be pessimistic.

I should mentioned that, If it is a yoho superspin, then there is no ned to worry, they come lose when you give it a high amount of spin quickly.

Forgot to mention I'm using Circuses with JC's Ultra Leichts; the axle it came with has a bit more thread on one end than the other, but it tightens just fine. I tighten them with a ratchet holding one nut in place while I tighten the other with a crescent wrench.

Try a couple of small washers, see if that'll fix it.

I haven't had that problem and i have the same gear. But you could try to
change the nut for... oh what is it in english...well the kind of nut that has
nylon stopper on it. It's there to prevent the nut loosening, which is pretty
much that you want to do. So just go to your nearest hardware store and
get some of those 6mm? nuts.

Those are really cheap. Like 0,6e for ten of those. It's completely nuts! ;)

The problem seems to have been solved by washers. I didn't have them in before, silly me!

There are no silly questions
Why is a round pizza in a square box?
Why go to the top of a tall building only to put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?
Where in the nursery rhyme does it say humpty dumpty is an egg?

I could go on..

I could go on..

1. for easy stacking and storage
2. you can see more from one place, and see things you wouldn't normally notace without a vantage point
3. that is a damn good point (one would assume that because he was breakable people thought he was an egg perhaps he was a glass vase??)
