Well, there's no turning back now. I've just transfered some money to my card for the ticket so I can order a ticket this afternoon. Cheers for that, looby -here's another person hoping that the music will be a feature. ;D

Finally going to a convention, Manchester seems a few millenia ago. I guess I'll get to prove to a few more people that I actually exist and I'm not just some internet phenomenon. :P

See you all there then!

... I think 'Funby' sounds better.

Do they get that name because of the dance or the earrings?

I thought it was just a poi thing?
I thought [the amatuer comp]it was just a poi thing?
More than poi acts last year.

Play sometimes gets a rep as a poi/staff event and where as they are well represented there were jugglers, diaboloists, hoopers, acroists etc etc.
The vibe is really positive, One of my favourite events ever, gutted that I won't be there this year... though I might make some of it.

I highly suggest if you can make it you do so

And in addition to Matt's informative post: (taken from Playfestival.co.uk)

It is with deep regret and much sadness that we announce PLAY Festival 2008 has been cancelled due to bad weather over last weekend during the Workhouse Festival. The site is no longer habitable and will remain so for the next 8-10 weeks at least.

We have searched high and low for a new venue but at such short notice we have been unable to find anything that is compatible with our requirements, also as we are now (Wednesday 9th July) within 10 working days of the event a new license cannot be arranged in time to ensure the festival takes place on the original dates and remains legal. We have contemplated postponement but to re-arrange six months work in such a short time just isn't feasible at this point due to other peoples commitments.

We thank each and everyone one of you who have contributed to this years festival; be you a ticket buyer, volunteer, crew member, trader or performer. Your heart felt messages are a huge help for us getting through this difficult time. We will be issuing refunds as soon as possible and the shop is now closed.

On a brighter note, we are planning to hold one or two smaller events later this year and early next year to raise funds towards 2009's festival. If you have any suggestions for location, events or anything else feel free to get in touch via the contact page.

The PLAY Team

I am personally bummed at this.  Ruddy weather ruins everything.  Even the letter "h" on my keyboard.

This is obviously an elaborate scheme by Leo so he can legitimately not go to a convention so no one finds out that he doesn't actually exist...
