Different Newish finesse g3
« on: May 03, 2008, 07:24:09 pm »
i have two fineses that i bought last year on summer about a month apart.
I wanted to buy a third but didnt have the money at the time so i decided to wait until christmas to get anohter but my juggling online shop ran out and i had to wait until a new shipment came in about two months later.

but until recently i noticed that my new third diabolo is different from my older ones
first this one has a more hard plastic feeling than the older ones
also the hubs and washers have a different feel to them and its marked in a different manner from my older two. I also think the weight is a tad differen

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

Did Babache make some improvements to the finesse?

Ill try to post pics later for better explanation

it's harder plasticy feel because you haven't dropped it a million-million times the plastic feels different because it hasn't grinded a lot or hit your sticks a lot, and the markings are a bit weird I dunno about that I have 5 g3's that have |  |  ||| and 1 yellow g3 that is |  ||  |||

The weight between my green and blue finesse is lighter than my 2 white, because they were bought a year earlier.
There has been a similar thread - http://diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?topic=1869.0

I bought some new 'clean' diabolos for the stage (circus with teflon hubs like the old ones, 6 years old). After some practice, my arms were heavy...normal:
weight of a used one: around 269gr
weight of a new one: around 281gr
And a post from Mark BMC which you'll find useful no doubt.
Bump!

okay so i had some free time at work this week and decided to use our electronic weighing scales in the lab.I performed the measurements on 2 circi both with pom hubs and aluminium bolts and washers. the black is the newer diabolo,

Experiment to discover relative weight differences in components of Henry circus diabolo’s

Aim
To minimise weight difference between the diabolo’s and to make each half as balanced in terms of weight as possible.

Results

              Black                     White
Cups    105.79!   105.79!        103.42        103.15
Hubs     11.82   11.74        12.45                     12.55
Large      7.88   7.85        7.85                     7.70
washer

Only minimal difference found in the weight of small washers, dome nut, middle screw.

original total weights
White -   263.81

Black -    267.54

By swapping components between the diabolo’s I was able to adjust that to

White – 264.03 [major factor in weight increase was finding a heaver washer [still standard circus washer]

Black -  267.38

Conclusion
Firstly I was surprised that my black circus cups were identical in weight to .01 of a gram   probably a fluke.

Their was much more variation in the pom hubs than I would have expected

The major success of this hour spent not working, was being able to balance each half of the diabolo’s by swapping components to minimise weight difference.

White  126.7
          126.00
Black  127.78
           127.75

These measurements include cup both washers and nut.

Evaluation
4g weight difference between diabolo’s, but diabolo’s well balanced individually.
I need to get out more.

Hmm...

My red G3 is like Eric's Yellow one (in markings) and my white G3 is like his red one.

I always suspected that I was getting jipped with different G's of the finesse, instead of the G3 I ordered.

does MB have more than one person manufacturing these? or more than one location because one could be from one factory molding them and one could be from another and they use different markings to show which it came from like US money has D or P (i think) to show the printing press it came from...

i jus bought a white g3, it has the I II III markings.

does the weight difference make for 2d play a possibility or do i need 2 diabolos of the same weight?
Try once. Try twice. Try thrice.... throw it across the yard.  Pick it up, untangle and go again.

its easier when learning if they are both similar weights, a couple of grams won't make a difference so dont worry:)

I'm exactly the same, even with the colours and everything.
