Finesse vibrating? / Scratched hubs
« on: June 24, 2008, 06:08:16 pm »
When I get my Finesse spinning at high speeds, it always seems to vibrate. I've actually looked closely and it seems it is wobbling a bit, like it's not completely stable. ??? I don't think it's a huge hindrance to my playing, but I can feel the vibrations in my aluminum sticks and I wanted to know if this is not supposed to happen, or if it is something I just have to get used to. If it matters, I made sure the I, II, and III are at the same places on both cups.

I don't think that's the case; I just got the Finesse for my birthday 3 days ago.

it is simply a case of cups that need tightening. just hold the screws and the cups and twist.

that happend to me on my old diabolo. its only when it gets to hgh speeds. on of 2 things is happening
1- its going too fast and losing stabilty
2- loose cups
if its going outrageously fast, let it slow down, and also try tightening the cups
The entire world will die in the time of one day the reason being...o_O 3D O_o!!

Thanks for the help--- I got the wobbling to stop by tightening. Is it still supposed to vibrate slightly when spinning?

Never noticed any vibration on my Finesses even at high speeds. Try to set the alignment markers correctly (not that I think it works ;D).

If you got it in the mail it might be slightly out of shape like mine were. They reshape after a bit of use.

I think playing with it more will be my best bet... Emailing MB didn't seem to help much.

Hello Zack,

We explain in the instructions joined to the diabolo : ( please read these explanations )

Balance can be corrected in turning the cups in the right way of the clock.
VERY IMPORTANT : take the departure with the little marks on the  cups
If you have always this problem, rebuild again the diabolo to find the point of balance

Best regards

Chrislaine Schambacher

The finesse is a new generation of diabolos not like the diabolos Henry:  ; you can change the axle and have another sort of diabolo with lights and others pieces to have more weight.

i agree that it's bad advertising, and it's only partially true.

It's different from the circus (obviously), but the circus also has all kinds of axles and stuff to "have more weight"

This coming from a (disgruntled) finesse user. But lets not turn this into a circus v finesse flamewar

Yeah, I think they used an online translator to turn Swiss into English. And they tried to advertise to me, even though I had already bought a Finesse from them. Very strange.

And by "Swiss" here you mean "French". ;)

I've been to their headquarters... it's in a very French residential/industrial part of the country. A small place. Great showroom though!
