this got mentioned in the BJC thread. just thought i would start a topic for it. just wondering who would be interested in making it a reality?

possibilities are endless, one day, two day, one month convention!?

imagine a whole show made up from diabolo, could be interesting

any thoughts?

It all depends on location and timing for me, but I'm certainly interested.

location and timing here too. BTW why next year?

one dayers are easier to arrange but weekenders means it is worth travelling from further away.

Well I would love this, and would even be willing to help organize... but unless this is some huge cataclysmic event where all the best diaboloists will be there along with hundreds of others and held over a substantial period of time I couldn't justify a trip across the Atlantic (and I assume location would have to be in Europe somewhere... probably France, maybe the UK).

(and of course, most of those factors are unlikely)

Either that, or associate it with some other event in some way to make the trip worth while.

I think this idea may need to stew for a couple years before there's enough backing to create a truly international festival. Perhaps there's enough right now for a relatively local diabolofest in the UK?

i think you are right sean, go for organising a one/two day event in 2006 and then maybe 2007 a big international job.

there is a sports centre close to me which would be perfect for a one day, no accomodation though, as in no where to camp. there is a travel lodge etc near though.

i will start looking into prices etc and get back to everyone.

btw anyone who would be interested in organising this give me a PM or email.

Circus Space (England) held a one-day diabolo convention in both 93 & 94. I went to the 93 one, and learnt lots, [umbrella whipping? Whoah, Bruce, that's, like, impossible, man] and had a lot of fun. There were ~25 of us there, at a vague & hazy guess/memory.

I'd guess a few different national one-dayers would be the way to start testing the waters, and move on from there if it all seemed feasable.

I'm in the process of organising a Salford convention. I could set aside some extra space for a diabolo meet. Assuming all goes to plan
