Finesse G4 (and evo6 and carbons)
« on: March 08, 2009, 07:04:41 pm »
May/June, very little info about it just a computer generated image that could be a G2/3 from the download section of their site.
That is all.

Edit: carbons reckoned to be the lightest on the market and whats presumed to be hubstacks also mentioned.

excalibur control= hubstacks most definitely
speed rings= weight rings for the rims? they've definitely finetuned the rim design a bit.

This just frustrates me to be honest. I have a sort of 'don't fix what isn't broke' (or however that phrase goes) philosophy to finesse. I love finesse for their light weight and therefore still kept by my g2's, no matter how trashed they are, when g3's came out. I found that annoying enough as I'd kill for a brand new set of g2's but now its near impossible to find that. Now that the g4's are coming out (so soon after g3's too) I can only assume that they will proably be slightly heavier or by the look of what other people have posted, a slightly different, if wider, shape, which is great if thats what you want, but not if you preferred the old ones, as you are now limited. I have no problem with a new version of a popular diabolo, I just would prefer it if it didn't mean that the previous models would become extinct.

Firstly, sorry Toby.

Alex, if you're after a set of g2's, chances are a few people who wanted the newer model will sell up their oldies after buying. It'll be okay muffin.

I'm quite excited about the J9 contact ball.  And a "slow silicone bouncing ball"?

I'll always agree that MB always keeps on with research and design, they don't rest on their laurels. I agree with Alex though, the Finesse G4 looks pretty similar in it's solid model to the previous versions, so I don't see what all the fuss is about.  If there are some stunning new developments, the pictures doesn't do it justice.  As for the new stick, could be interesting?  Though again, the picture doesn't show anything new.  I could whip up a solid model that looked the same.

Still, I applaud MB for always working at it.  Their new logo is very current millenium now.  Thanks for the pointer Séan.

I share Alex's feelings on this. Been rediscovering my G2's for the last couple of months but I have "only" 3 of them, and since I'd like to work on 4 I'd be really annoyed to have to buy 4 G3/G4 to have something which is nearly the same. Mixing them is ok but kinda odd  :(

The Mr.Babache factory is very close from where I live, gonna see if they can show me the new kits, I'm curious  :-D

Why am I suddenly reminded of Fallout 3?

I'm with Alex, they aren't changing enough to warrant going crazy over a new finesse coming out.  It's the same design, tweaked so slightly it hardly seems worth my money.  And as Alex said, those minor tweaks are enough to mean mixing different versions is a burden.

I was hoping for a new, new set though, not second hand

This looks good, though I don't know how much shipping to the UK would cost on top. Thanks for the link  :-* Where does it say that they are G2's though, or is it from the weight info?
