2d feed the sun tutorial greatly appreciated!
« on: June 03, 2009, 07:18:42 pm »
I've been searching for a tutorial on 2d feed the sun, but I can't find any. Neither here, nor on youtube. I would highly appreciate if anyone would bother making a short tutorial, but any clip showing these siteswaps would help :)

I reckon the most extensive resource for (low) siteswaps is Diabology. If you don't have a copy already, shame on you ;)

I dont think this is exactly what your looking for but what the heck. 3.07 possiby what you mean? IIRC I was looking into getting a motion that would have minimal pop to it and be close to the border between low and high.  My standard 31 oldschool bw to start the motion 2.55 (to reverse shuffle  8) )
Diabolo Video- Short and Long

erm tips, well getting your head round feed/unfeeds the sun/fan (theres some threads on them allready). Also my natural 1d sun is outside left arm to inside right, this really cuts down the room to land the trick so inside left to outside right is the way forward.

Never really tried 411 low but I think i will have a play soon.
hth, if you were after something else then ignore all this :)

Not exactly seán, but thanks anyway.

I found the trick in this video by Hedi. He does the 31 (or whatever it might be called) three times, at 0:28, 1:38 and 1:41.

you'll probably have more luck searching for feed the sun. Try doing the normal shuffle and popping a diabolo up every now and then. Another way that seems easier(?) wrap  a diabolo or put in a trapeze, as you unwrap pop the other up and sun with the one from the wrap.

Yeh thats not a siteswap, its feed the sun 1-2, i suppose it could be siteswapped to 31-3* ?? But its generally called feed the sun.

Thanks for the replies. I've updated the topic title and first post.

I've had more luck searching for "feed the sun", but I haven't found any tutorials yet. On the other hand, I have realised that this trick doesn't have to be as hard as I have tried it, if you know what I mean. so I'll try it out. :)

I don't think there are any tutorials. Some tricks just don't really need a tutorial. It's a simple concept, it just takes a bit of practice. Pop one up, do a sun, catch the 2nd diabolo and do another sun. Just watch any old video with a feed the sun in slow motion. Didn't Priam have a nice short video of feeding the sun from way back in the day on his original site?

I think I have a spare morning tomorrow so I may knock one up if I can be botherd. But its as Sean said, its not that difficult its just getting used to popping one up.

Plenty of videos use fts so just watch a couple and then as with everything, practice practice practice!

I don't think a tutorial is necessary, I'll manage without :) To bad its like 20m/s wind and poring rain outside...

Then practice inside, it will force you to be neater and will ultimatley give you better technique.

You can easily do this inside, when i do it i never have to throw above head height. Obviously when you learning you'll throw a bit higher, but its still easy to do indoors.
