Video embedding re-enabled
« on: February 16, 2016, 07:50:40 am »
Video embedding should now work for:

- Youtube
- Facebook (and Facebook pictures)
- Vimeo
- Instagram
- Vine

I installed the Simple Audio Video Embedder package since the old package (AEVA) hadn't been maintained for a very long time and had been broken for a while.

E.g.

Cool.
Do you still have Aeva installed? Any chance of keeping it active, with all sites except JTV switched off?
(Yeah, I know, we need a JTV solution....)

Unfortunately the two modifications conflict. It might be as simple as adding a line to AutoEmbedMediaProInstall2.php

Requirements are
Code: [Select]
(ID, title, website, height, width,  regexmatch, embedcode)
Only hard ones are the last two elements. Did we already figure those out?

A relatively simple example:

Code: [Select]
(24, 'DailyMotion', 'http://www.dailymotion.com', 360,480, 'http://www.dailymotion.com/video/([A-Z0-9]*)_(.*)','" . '
<iframe frameborder="0" width="480" height="600" src="//www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/$1" allowfullscreen></iframe>
' . "'),

I'll take this to PMs when I'm on my computer, maybe tomorrow. We managed to get the html5 JTV vids to embed on jugglingedge.com , so I think it should be possible. Cheers!

Despite of the risk of looking like an ill mind, I will share my findings on Facebook embedding.
If you want Facebook videos embedding to work (though there is only one active member who is sharing most of these links) here is how, the link HAS TO have the following structure:
http(s) . facebook . com / [USERNAME/GROUP] / videos / [VIDEO_ID] /
where [USERNAME/GROUP] is the identifier of the user or group in Facebook and [VIDEO_ID] is an apparently random number Facebook assigns to each video.

ok, my link looks different, how to get the proper link ? I only know how to do it from a computer.

This is a lame access from Facebook but, for videos from a user profile
1- See the date of the original video to get an approximate idea when it was published
2- Go to the user's profile
3- Click in Photos (Yes!)
4- Click in Albums (Yes!)
5- Click in Videos (- Wasn't I supposed to be in Photos? - Don't ask me)
6- Look  for the video you want, click it, you should have the proper link,
7- Probably your link looks like this http(s) // www . facebook . com / [USERNAME] / videos / gf.487567234 / [VIDEO_ID] /
gf.487567234 is a random example, this will look differently on each video, but in most of the cases it is a character or 2, dot, and then another number. Nevertheless the [VIDEO_ID]  we are interested on is always the last number.
8 - you can erase everything after [VIDEO_ID] /

for videos from a Facebook group
1- Go to the group's page
2- Go to Photos
3- Go to videos
4- Look for the video
5- Go to steps 7 and 8 from above

Notes:
1- There is a difference between posting a video on your user profile and then sharing it to a group, and directly uploading your video as a group video. So if you see a video ina  group the first step is to find out whether it is a group video or user's video that was shared on the group
2- IN PREVIEW YOU WILL NOT SEE THE EMBEDDING WORKING, you need to publish the post to see the embedding
3- If you have a tracker blocker, and you block 'Facebook Connect', then you cannot watch embedded Facebook videos. At least in Chrome.

Great! Latest finding, which is a bit obvious. If you have a tracker blocker, and you block 'Facebook Connect', then you cannot watch embedded Facebook videos. At least in Chrome.

Hi people,

New finding. In order to share INSTAGRAM videos with an embedded player, you need to remove the www. part from the address.

Cheers
