MJC: Melbourne Juggling Convention 09
« on: August 05, 2009, 08:48:45 am »
No ones posted about this?

From September 18th to 21st.

Thanks Matt Hall for coming (as a special guest)  ;)

Here's the sight to look at: http://www.mjc.juggling.net.au/

I'm there, i would have posted this earlier so you could buy the early bird passes but i didn't have an account then. It would be great if someone could come to show me some stuff.

Plus, if you click on tickets (which you probably will if you want to go), You'll see a vary familiar face... ;)

I'll go one year, but not this one. Unless you can convince me that it's better than travelling Europe...doubt that though.

Hmm return flights to Melbourne aren't as much as I thought. Not much leave left at work so not this year, but quite possibly next year!

I love mixing travel with convention's so one day I reckon ill get to this. You have to remember diaboloists are  lazy by nature  getting people to Dorset is hard enough.

I'm there with bells on.

The last convention had quite a few diaboloists and the skills were pretty high.

Altho not up to the levels with the EJC, it was still a lot of fun.

Diabolo show part 1- Melbourne Juggling Convention 08

Diabolo show part 2 - Melbourne Juggling convention

This years will be running for 4 days!!!

From what I can remember last year, your name will be on the door - email Christian and ask though (he's the organiser).

I buy from www.firetoys.co.uk - it normally ends up being cheaper than juggleart INCLUDING postage.

T'was amazing. Time to do the old HLGCBST

High
My performance. It went super well and the response was awesome. Matt Daniels the talent scout from NICA and Cirque du Soleil australia giving me a super positive chat to and he is taking a copy of my stuff to the meeting in Montreal - possible Montreal Circus School future! Wooo!

Low
Not being able to get into the afterparty due to being underage. :(

Goal
Put on an awesome show. TICKED like a motherbitch

Crush
BEN! You're getting super good man, I wish I lived in Melbourne so we could catch up and jam all the time. you have awesome ideas, and we have the same diabs/sticks/string/style.

Bane
There are only two conventions per year in Australia, Sydney and Melbourne. I DEMAND MOAR!

Surprise
Hamish! aka Toddyupa! This guy like 4ft tall and packed full of awesome. He's like the 7 year old Anthony Gatto of diabolo. Oh and my workshop went surprisingly awesome

Thanks
CHRISTIAN PARR. You organised the whole thing, you are the man! I have a huge huge huge amount of respect for you!

High- Too many- Great public show, got to attend so many more workshops, 4 days length was perfect. Had some AMAZING Japanese food after the convention.

Low- Realising that my Minigens finishing on right and left wraps in about 4:1 ratio was a pain in the ass for Will's integral workshop.

Goal- Not forgetting to learn anything I wanted to learn, took a notebook for the first time ever, very glad I did

Crush- Besides from the usual Will crush, Ben of course, he's got some wicked skills. (i.e needs to make a video)

Surprise- Ditto of what Will said about Hamish. Also, asking Will to show me a 3-2-1-2-3 and then seeing Ben bust it out super clean before Will landed it was a huge surprise. ( I still never saw you do it Will)

Thanks- Christian for organising it of course, and Matt Hall for showing us some sweet Vertax tricks, and Japanese games.

High
Public show, Williams Workshop, Everything was Great!

Low
Only having beaches which didn't allow heaps of learning.

Goal
Too meat lots of new daboloists I hadn't seen and learn like mad ( \, )

Surprise
I simply never knew how many talented diaboloists there were in Australia!

Thanks
Christian for organizing, Matt Hall and William for teaching some stuff.

Oh and I have to say thanks to William and Bizzat!

Goal- 2 & 3 High improvement and doing heaps of filming for a wicked collab video - it's gonna take a while! There's some amazing combos on there.
2 diabolo beginners workshops - was a challenge but worth it.
