Could you start all over?
« on: September 19, 2009, 12:04:56 am »
Alright if look back on what you have all gone true with your diabolo's from the beginning untill the point you are now.

Now lets say somehow you fall and you lost ALL your diabolo skills! You still remember all the things you were capable of doing but you can't! And you have to relearn it all! You know on what point of level the world is at 3 low is normal.. 4 low is starting to come.. Limits are getting pushed more and more..

Would you start all over again at the age you got now and re learn everything? ( You learn at the same speed you did as before )

There's a very easy way to find out, try playing left handed (assuming you're right handed). It will be like starting from scratch, possibly slighlty quicker progression, but it will feel like you've forgotten everything.

Is anybody out there a truly ambidextrous diabolist?

I can do quite a bit of stuff left handed, pretty solid left handed 2D, tried 3D left handed but that was just silly.

But then I wouldnt be able to inspire people and they wont look up to me and think of me as a competent leader for my juggling club... but yeah I probably would.

You'd learn heaps faster with your knowledge of how to practice/learn.

Of course - every new trick is a thrill no matter how basic :)

No I wouldn't.
Because then I wouldn't do anything for school anymore and be so addicted that I took my diabs everywhere with me.

If i had to loose my skills, then of course i would start all over.  In the past year i really started to maximise my capabilities, and it was the most fun i had ever had in my life.  The frustrations showed me who i really was.

If i had a choice, i wouldnt start over.  Im just beggining 2d as somthing im doing for an hour a day.  It really does bring me that same joy that i felt when i was learning.

Somthing that i live by is a quote i got from my diabolo book
"new tricks are invented everyday just waiting to be learned, so we are all begginers in a sense"

Of course. I love Diabolo, love learning, love watching people, and hate that Diabolo is not in the dictionary.
Sorry for my awful posts years ago. I was even more anal and un-self-aware than i am now.

NUUOOO!  Diabolo is my "thing", and if I lost my skills to that, I'd be a completely different person.  Plus, reality is that at the age where bills must be payed, there's less time to do everything.  If I lost all of my skills, I'd kill myself trying to reserve time to re-learn everything as well as paying for tuition, bills, etc (because I absolutely must  :P).

I would have started with diabolo all over again if i forgot everything.
I remembered the feel when i managed to pull a trick off.
It was a fanrastic feeling.
