Hey, nice one man. That is a cool start for 3d! Ive been wondering how to start off 3 diabolos, and you answered it perfectly. Also, hey are those my colors you are trying to steal? Hmm, green and orange... good thing the other wasnt black.

Thanks for the vid most likly the best ive seen for learning 3D.

I found the freeze and explainations very useful.

Know i just need to wait till the moring so i dont wake the whole house up with me dropping diabolos.

With all these great vids show starts its getting harder and harder to make excusses for not being able to do 3D.

Damn... I cant watch the vid ´cause I´m at work and offices WMP doesn´t support AVI, I have to watch it when I get home...

But basicly (in my opinion) trapeze start (at least the one in diabology) is the easiest way to start 3d low. I´m using more wrap start because it gives way more speed but I cant succeed it in same procent. I haven´t yet missed any trapeze starts (ok I have done less than 15 of them) and my 3d wrap start works (usually, of course there is bad and good days) something like 3/5.

Rigth now my problems with 3d are correcting, I can do it but my shuffle gets bad baet for couple rounds and that can tilt other two, and tricks (of course...) I mean that like in 42 I can do it something like 1/6 and sun I can do 1/20 or something but my acceleration is almost mastered (I mean that it works atleast 9/10). I trying to create 3d every pass wraps but i´m still too slow. I have to start practise more 3d... :P

Mattias and I were discussing the trapeze start and he noticed that when he held the handsticks in one hand to pull the third one out, the diabolos would slide down and collide.  At first I didn't notice this, but I went back to my Beaches (still frustrated with the G2s) and noticed that this did happen.  But Tetsuya seems to be able to hold it no problems.  He's using henry's sticks though so does the notch with the knot in help hold it?

I'm using MB Performers (no notch at all) but Mattias was using Henry's.
Anyone know why this happens? Possibly the amount of spin?

I think stopping the diabolo sliding down and hitting the non trapeze one has to do ith how you hold the sticks in your if your holding your sticks in your left hand try twist the right hand one so its pointing to the right.

hmm, i tried it and it slides down slower when im pointing the right stick to the right.
Still pretty fast downslide but its getting there.

I totally agree with that Sean! I love the video :D

About the trapeze-start: I also had the slide down problem, but since I put tapes on my sticks (in the Barnesy-way :)) it works perfect for me! I like to practise 3 high again, and got myself a record of 7 throws! (very happy :P)
So try to wrap a thick layer of tape on your sticks, and when holding 2 sticks in your lefthand (righties) let the right stick point a ltitle downwards, so the trapeze-string sticks to the tape and can't slide down. Good luck!

EDIT: I made some pictures for you. You can view them in this folder.
2nd EDIT: don't use coloured tape! It made my new white Circusses all pink!

No problem dude. I think it could be a problem with magic knots and stuff, but I only have this tape on my old Henry's alu sticks with short string. I use that string only for 2d and 3d high. For 3 low I use the wrapstart and my normal-string-length-sticks (which I also use for 1d and 2d tricks)

would you say that you have to keep your sticks in a v-shape like Baptiste does on diabology?

because im poor, and i cant buy another henrys yet.. im using yohos..   (shame shame shame)    and the trapezed diabolo slips down the string and slowly hits the other diabolo before i can throw the 3rd one up?

this hapens somtimes with henrys aswell..

and suggestions?

in other news..      this start helped me to feel what it is like to shuffle 3diabolos for 5 rotations!!!   i was like    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
i did a backflip  (litterally)    and i was in a basket ball hall with people practising basketball, and everyone was looking at me going  wha??

:D   so happy

When I was using the stopover start, I put tape on the ends of my handsticks.  It was cloth based tape, so was pretty chunky and hard wearing.  It allowed me to do a stopover on my Henrys aluminium sticks without having to think about it too much, and the stopover would stay in place perfectly.  Other sticks/people seem to be OK without tape, but it could be worth a go for you.

Good idea,

how long did you put the tape out to ?  (length going inwards)

this was annoying for stickgrinds yes?      but thats not a huge deal.

i use really weird sticks.    i shall take a picture of them...   i think there from a french company?

should i put the image here or in handsticks?    (avoids mistake)

Try ideas out for yourself - my tape was pretty near the end of the sticks, but there's no real point going into more detail on that.  Feel free to innovate!

It never bothered me for stick grinds - I tend to throw and catch them rather than slip them off the end of the stick anyway.  It did get in the way for whipping, but it was also the only way I could start 3 until I learned the wrap start (which is much better).

ah yes!

i was thinking more in the realation of "is the diabolo supposed to do that?" and "is it just because im using yoho"

these are my sticks.

they used to be the same lenght as the standard woodies but i cut them down after suggestion by matt hall and why smaller handsticks are better.

(tell me if i should edit and repost in sticks)

They might be Babache Performer sticks, but I'm not sure.

A small elastic band stretched round the stick a few times would work instead of tape, by the way.  I used that for a while while I was still working out if I wanted to totally abandon the stopover start.

i've got a question!

when I do the trapez start and put one diabolo in a right trapez and hold both sticks in the left hand, the diabolo with the trapez always slips down, and the logical effect is that they crash!

what do I do wrong?

Nice one Busk.

How well the trapeze will hold is dependant on what sticks you are using. But you can use any sticks theoretically. My guess would be you're using Xtremes. The only thing I can thing of is try to keep the stick (with the trapeze around it) pointing at the axle, hopefully this'll stop it slipping down if not, go with Busks advice and throw it up fast :P

I have the same problem with it slipping down my carbons all the time.  Not that i find the start very productive for my 3d anyway so its no big deal but is it easier to have the sticks angled out widely or close together?

With my carbons a trapeze worked fine first time I ever tried it. I keep the my thumb inbetween the two sticks to keep them apart. So try that.

To keep trapezes from slipping in 2D, you need the the string all bunched near the tip of the stick, and have the sticks held apart, if in one hand a very wide V
