Destined to Diabolo: Training in Taiwan (Part 1)
« on: November 10, 2009, 06:21:46 pm »
Midoryu has written a series for the Diabolo.ca blog recounting his recent travel to Taiwan where he participated in diabolo training camps and observed professional diabolo 'teams' (Zong Gang and MHD).

Interesting insights into how things work there.

Sorry for my awful posts years ago. I was even more anal and un-self-aware than i am now.

Thanks for all the comments, guys.  First off:

Quote
but unfortunately I arrived in Taiwan a little late and only got to walk in on William's unofficial practice with MHD...

I arrived early July.  That's around when the camp started.  Unless if you went to Taiwan late August to September or even later than that, then I'd say you'd arrived earlier than me, because on the first day of the camp one of the coaches told me that I'd missed William's practice by a few days.  How often does he practice, Chickeneater?  Do you know?  I might be talking about something different so I want to make sure.

To pich:  As far as I know, there's no website.  If you want I can pm you coach Huang's cell phone number.

To anyone out there, I can pm you coach Huang's Taiwanese cell phone number, if you pm me for it.  If you want to participate in these camps, wait 'till next summer, because they're over for now.  If you talk to coach Huang and negotiate on practice sessions, I'm sure she'll figure something out.  That is, if you guys can speak Mandarin...:)

Part two coming out soon!  (As soon as I edit that part, anyway...)

And by the way, after part two comes out, expect a short report on the history of Taibolos.   ;)

well written, and that sounds sickk.

do you happen to know if there are more flexible times for random training/play? i'm trying to find an internship in taiwan this summer, and if i do, it would certainly be awesome to pick up some diabolo as well =P

Brilliant! I always wonder how they are so methodical, skilled and how they all keep a consistent style and techniques. This helps me to figure it out a bit more.

Thanks for the report!
