Absolutely one of my favourite VotWs of all time. This is what the whole series is about. Out of the box thinking that's simple and learnable by lots of people... and looks amazing. HD youtube too!

A special move indeed. This concept should really be explored more.

I don't usually comment on votws, but I really, really enjoyed this one. The day jamzjazz sent this in, I had watched this poi video:

I really enjoyed how Cyrille (in the poi video) played with the way the poi could fall down to his foot and the way he played with the string wrapping around his arm (among many other moves, but I had seen friends exploring the contact moves before). Then in comes jamzjazz with this little trick that basically answered my question of "how do I figure out how to do that move with a diabolo?" So I was very pleased with this video.

I am disappointed by its reception on the YouTube channel. I try not to take the comments seriously, but I see Dodson has been arguing with someone who just cannot appreciate the loveliness of this trick.

Anyway, great trick jamzjazz. Have you tried doing this kind of trick all around your body yet?

You know you shouldn't read youtube comments Dunc, at first its almost laughable and then you just have to come to terms with the fact that a lot of people on youtube are so so stupid. Unfortunatley it doesn't just stay on music videos and the like, it also strays into things that it shouldn't.

This votw is pretty sweet, it amused me a lot.

It's all good Duncan, the new channel account layout on youtube makes it pretty easy to give all his videos one star ratings.

I was thinking of making a thread highlighting all the s**ts I've come across in the comment sections of videos (that use this forum) and publicly highlighting them.  It's interesting how many I recognise from this forum and how many create new usernames as a result ahem mark (diabolodude) ahem....

Rant over, that's my kind of votw, something to work on in the future.

Rennes July 10-17th 2011!

Fixed it - and the comments are no more. At one point I think we were blocking comments on the votw youtube pages. I suggest we do that. If people want to discuss it they can do it here. I have little interest in youtube comments.

Anyways, I just tried it (which says a lot because this is the first VotW in a long time that I've tried) and got it right away. And it's so cool!

If you hold the diabolo the right way and step on the stick it works quite reliably. The diabolo is trapped between the string and your leg and has nowhere to go but down. Plus it makes me giggle like a 6 year old school girl every time it works. On the inside only of course.

Im glad you have tried it and thats one of the reasons i thought i should try for a VOTW as other people could do it easily. Its one of these things that you can depend on working because somehow it just does. I hope more people will try this and maybe even adapt it. Thanks for the comments and to those who understand what this trick is about. :)

I'm at work so can't try, but theres no reason it wouldn't work around both legs?

It does, but it's a bit harder. The diabolo can get stuck between the two.

Does it work with multiple wraps around the leg?

If you hold the stick in your mouth, does it work with one wrap around your arm and one around the leg?

James, as everyone else has said, that was truly a magnificent trick. It's a shame that small and contained stuff like this goes ignored in favour of the (ahem) 'bigger' and more archetypal tricks, so it's lovely to see a trick like this when it pops up :).

I'll definitely give this a try, thank you for sharing!
