[terminology] pointless thread...

Are you diabolist, diaboloist, diaboler, diaboloer or a diabolo player*?
I believe that becuase it was a game, player is the correct term. But i use diabolist becuase it sounds best.
Do you go diaboling, diaboloing, or to play diabolo*?
I rarely use any, but i say diaboling when i do.
*?
Just a thought.

I say diaboloist, and I`m going to play diabolo. But I generally speak dutch, and then the terms are different. But also the same problem.

I never end up saying "play" diabolo, for me its a performing art, so im going to "practice" diabolo!
I would say diaboloist, (although I rarely need to use a word like that)

I usually say I'm a juggler.
However, I do say "play the diabolo" because that's what the Japanese say and I got in the habit of translating that back and forth.

Many people haven't got a clue what i diabolist is though so most of the time you have to tell 'em what it means!

I've always said "diaboloist" before, but I had a look in a trusty online dictionary, and, granted that these definitions are with respect to a different meaning of "diabolo", I came up with the following:
diabolist
n. : an adherent of Satan or Satanism [syn: Satanist]
Source: WordNet ® 2.0, © 2003 Princeton University
I also then realized that we are neglecting many other important forms of the word diabolo such as:
diabolize
or
diabolise
:
\Di*ab"o*lize\, v. t. To render diabolical.
Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, © 1996, 1998 MICRA, Inc.
diabolism
\Di*ab"o*lism\, n. 1. Character, action, or principles appropriate to the devil.
2. Possession by the devil.
Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, © 1996, 1998 MICRA, Inc.
I then hypothesized that these terms could be applied in coherent and simple sentences such as:
Diabolists diabolized diaboloisms diabolically.
So, from now on:
We will "practice diabolism", not "play diabolo".
We will "diabolize people", not "teach them the diabolo".
And things do not "have to do with the diabolo", but are "diabolical".
In conclusion... that was a diabolical waste of the last 15 minutes of my time.

Well I diabolo,
or juggle, mainly diabolo.
Since Seans' thread I think diabolist might be the way to go;
I do diabolo
But the ex-girlfriend says I waste my time playing with a couple of pieces of plastic.

I reckon the fine art of diabolism might catch on. There something really aluring about an ism that makes it sound so much slicker.

i usually talk to kids who don't know what a diabolo is, so I refer to myself as a juggler (and then say I use a western version of a chinese yoyo as more people have heard of them), but it doesn't really matter. as long as you're diaboloing (or whatever you call it)

I've always used Diaboloist too Sean. I try to avoid using anything that sounds like diablo and always stress the extra "o." Incidentally,"Diabology" is in fact the study of Satan and demonic influence in the world. I found that in a print dictionary, and have gotten a couple of strange looks when friends saw the DVD case. Try doing a google search for diabology and there is a strange "coming soon" website... Anyone know what that is all about? OMG! I don't want to tell you what else I found while searching that on google... Just don't go past the first 20 results!!!
