Title: New MB diabolo: "Tornado" (and evolution #2, 5)
Post by: Niclas on March 09, 2008, 06:14:01 AM
http://jonglerie.com/en/news/ and scroll down a bit and you can see 2 finesse diabolos with somthing new in the cups!!
Or maybe it's decoration only?

^edit if you going to the Online Catalog you can see it is EVOLUTION KIT 5 PRISMA that's the only as are written about it!!

;2nd edit i also found that the diabolo on the http://jonglerie.com/en/news/ above the evulation kit 5 in the online catalog and i can read it is Tornado Diabolo......but it looks exactly like a finesse......but in the catalog the finesse picture are next to the Tornado. The finesse picture have many finesses on it!! ;

Wait, so those crazy silver spinny things are part of the FINESSE Evolution Kit set? Number 5, you said?

But then you also said they're for the Babache 'Tornado', which I've never heard of... maybe they're compatible...

I'm very interested, tell us more!

The Tornado is a smaller lighter version of the Finesse.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE FINISHED EVO. 2 for Finesse!!!

If you also look at  the Catalog News 2008 you will see the only kits listed are the Evo 1, 3, 4 and the new 5 (prism things) - NO mention of the fabled Evo 2 - don't get too excited!!

In the catalog it says:
Gives your diabolo a flashy look day and night!
For Finesse diabolos and Tornado diabolos!

So its only decoration. Perhaps I should get one for performing, it may induce a few seizures from stage lighting though.

The FINISHED Evo.2 IS visible in a picture in the lower-middle section of the PDF I mentioned earlier, I saw and read it ma' self.

Take a look for it!  :D

The FINISHED Evo.2

I'll believe it when I see it. As for these decoration things: I'm not too fussed, other than for a performance they don't seem that useful.
Title: Re: New MB diabolo: "Tornado" (and evolution #2, 5)
Post by: Aaron Z on March 09, 2008, 11:11:44 AM
I agree with this guy ^^^, those decorations don't seem likely to be a performance addition.
If Babache are as clever a' bunch of designers as they are, if they were creating a cosmetic addition specifically they wouldn't want it to have an effect on the performance of a diabolo.

If they don't want the plate to have a performance effect, for example weight addition, they would of course make them from light plastic.
If that's the case, then at least they'll be hella cheap.

There IS a picture of a very complete-looking Evo.2 Finesse Bearing Axle in the pdf. document I mentioned earlier which is found at the mid-lower region of the document, on the Babache website.

Uses of a studded diabolo:

- cooking in the sun
- self-defense
- mirror

I'm really confused as to what the purpose, diabolo-wise, would be. Harder UFO grinds?

It seems that UFO grind with finesse must not be hard enough already. MR BABACHE WANTS YOU TO FAIL.

If you can stack those E5's over one or two sets of weight kits, I'm sold.
Especially if they're cheap, which they ought'a be if they don't do squat.

The axle kit for the Finesse and the Tornado diabolo seems to be the same,
so the Ultra Solution Kits for the Finesse will fit also onto the Tornado diabolo  ;D

Got my hands on a Tornado prototype last week (with one evo 5 ffs) and had a proper go of it today after I found a screwdriver.

Initial thoughts.
Nice diabolo, usable, would like to get my hands on a second as thats really how I judge diabolos. I also was using some horrible string and sticks so just had a bit of a simple play.

To get an idea of the size take a finesse and look at the side, the rim of the tornado (prototype) is basically where the groove on the flange is. the width is between 5-10mm less than a finesse.

Would I get some?
If the price is right I reckon I would.

Musings.
For some people (especially younger ones) big diabolos are unwieldy, small diabolos are often limiting, a decent midi size diabolo could fill a gap.
The extra space you get when doing multiple diabolos might prove usefull for 3d tricks and possibly 4d low.

Release date?
Not out yet, not sure when. Oh the evo 5's might be out in the UK in a few weeks if thats of any interest.

For anybody in the US, jugglingstore.com stocks the tornado diabolos. I also found out that firetoys.co.uk stocks the prisms. and for anybody that doesn't want to wait for the babache evolution kit 2 to come out, theres an alternate.  :) yoyoguy.com makes a modified spinabolo axle that fits in the finesse. i ordered one yesterday and i cant wait for it to come.  :-D

Also, for the evo 5, i found 2 pics, and they look completely different. Can someone tell me which is the real one?

I'm considering buying some of those prisma kits! ;)
