Title: Saucepans and vases
Post by: The Void on January 21, 2009, 11:14:25 PM
I've been digging. I once said (http://diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?topic=3514.msg42265#msg42265) "I'm sure I remember seeing an old video of a happy singing old Chinese guy doing diabolo tricks with a saucepan lid."

Well.... it was a vase:

Donald said (http://diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?topic=364.msg6206#msg6206) "Somewhere I've got some cool old VHS of a chinese girl doing suacepan lid...."

His memory was fine:

Thank goodness there's no porcelain in my house or it would all be broken by tomorrow.

The grind passing in the second video was mighty impressive. Hard to believe it's grinding. Nice touch with the inflating skirt and the Chinese pirouettes. That trick just doesn't get the attention it deserves these days.

Ah VHS. What would we do without it?

Cheers to you or whoever took the time to encode that.

Hope the performance section is suitable.

The slow motion on the Chinese piros was awesome - so nice to see it when it's not at lightspeed.

And I'd say it takes a very, very brave man to use a vase on stage.

I reckon the credit goes something like
Karl Heinz Ziethen > a few people with two VHS players each > Grant > Howie > Me.

Hope the performance section is suitable.

Yes, thanks, yes, and yes!

I hear the Henry's vases are the best, but only if you use the green string. The old Babache vases have long been superceded, and many people are moving on to the NeoQins, but a few just can't be swayed from their Dubes.

If he had a Renegade vase, he might be able to pull off this one:

It would have to be an awfully narrow necked vase for that trick, otherwise the proctologist would be like throwing a sausage down a corridor...
