Title: Sharpe Attack!
Post by: Sharpes on July 30, 2009, 09:04:40 PM
Here's the latest video from the Sharpe Brothers, Sharpe Attack!  Filmed in and around Boston over the last few weeks, it features tricks with up to 7 diabolos.  The Void has done us the favor of recompressing, so a full HD version at a much more reasonable file size is now the download from JTV (http://juggling.tv/download/original/2692/sharpe-attack).  A smaller version is available here:
Smallest Download (http://steinsharpe.com/Videos_files/Sharpe%20Attack!%20small.mov) 560MB
Enjoy.

Kudos guys, serious kudos.  Nice to see someone other than Crackers nailing smooth double handed whip variations.  Time for a rewatch.

My highlight on the first viewing has to be the infinite suicide with the handstick duicide.....so so good.

My socks have been knocked off! This video is outstanding. Great work guys! :)
Highlights:
Very smooth vertax genocide combo. The 1d combo from 0:48, very stylish. 2d shuffle-behind-the-back orbit thing from 3:30! 7d passing!
This video is filled with too much awesomeness to mention it all... :)

I knew from the title whos video it was going to be, and I must say I have been waiting for this for some time! You have completley made an otherwise dreary crappy day Your passing is something else (though would really like to see some complex patterns with 7(as if 7 passing isnt complex enough)). Jacob you simply continue to blow my mind. Look forward to seeing you at BJC.

I will watch this a couple of more times, it's so good! Thanks a lot for this video guys, I absolutely enjoyed it. Your style is different from a lot of people that have recently posted videos on this forum, so that for starters made it really interesting.

But of course your skill level is amazing! Absolutely loooooved all the passing. And that
2d shuffle-behind-the-back orbit thing from 3:30
looks soooo good.

Quality. :)

Best video of the year so far easily. My only gripe is that with a file that big could you have not uploaded it to a faster host -I'm only getting 400KB/s and it's ETA was 2 hours! Bit torrent is great for things like this.

I haven't watched it yet, but can I recommend that you edit your first post to let people know the file sizes: 3.6GB, 1.5GB, and 560MB might just be a little larger than people are expecting!

@Mr. D: Right-Click on the link and "Save As" should work.

Too bad the 1080p version doesn't work for me :(.

The video has some amazing tricks, liked the 1 Diabolo things most.
Your 7 Diabolo passing is so solid :o, that makes me jealous (I struggle with a friend of mine with 5 Diabolo passing).

For those who doesn't want to download the big files, but prefer a HD Video I found this very interesting little tweak.

Make yourself a new bookmark in your favourit browser and fill in this code

javascript:if%20(document.getElementById('download-youtube-video')==null%20&&%20!!(document.location.href.match(/http:%5C/%5C/%5Ba-zA-Z%5C.%5D*youtube%5C.com%5C/watch/)))%20%7Bvar%20yt_mp4_path='http://www.youtube.com/get_video?fmt=22&video_id='+swfArgs%5B'video_id'%5D+'&t='+swfArgs%5B't'%5D;%20var%20div_embed=document.getElementById('watch-embed-div');div_embed.innerHTML=div_embed.innerHTML+'%3Cbr%20/%3E%20%3Cspan%20id=%5C'download-youtube-video%5C'%3E%3Ca%20href=%5C''+yt_mp4_path+'%5C'%3EDownload%20as%20720p%20HD%20MP4%3C/a%3E%20'+%20%20((navigator.userAgent.indexOf('Safari') (http://www.youtube.com/get_video?fmt=22&video_id='+swfArgs%5B'video_id'%5D+'&t='+swfArgs%5B't'%5D;%20var%20div_embed=document.getElementById('watch-embed-div');div_embed.innerHTML=div_embed.innerHTML+'%3Cbr%20/%3E%20%3Cspan%20id=%5C'download-youtube-video%5C'%3E%3Ca%20href=%5C''+yt_mp4_path+'%5C'%3EDownload%20as%20720p%20HD%20MP4%3C/a%3E%20'+%20%20((navigator.userAgent.indexOf('Safari'))!=-1)?'(control-click%20and%20select%20%3Ci%3EDownload%20linked%20file%20as%3C/i%3E)':('(right-click%20and%20select%20%3Ci%3ESave%20'+%20(navigator.appName=='Microsoft%20Internet%20Explorer'?'target':'link')%20+'%20as)%3C/i%3E'))+'%3C/span%3E';%7Dvoid(0);

I named it HD Download.
Go to the YouTube version of the video and check the HD function.
Then you will have to click the  "HD Download" bookmark and there will be a download link under the embed code in the video information.
This worked for me and gave me a 720p around 92mb.

Good job Inspector Morse, ha.
the title's pretty clever, as was the rest of the video, sooo many tasty tricks packed into that video, my attention didn't waver for a second.

Post by: Sean on July 31, 2009, 04:29:50 PM
Hell yeah!! That all looks so good. Especially the 7 passing. And then Nate almost roofed a diabolo ~4 stories up! Makes me wish I wasn't an only child. :)

The music reminds me a lot of the Jimmy Swift Band.

I'd think you should be able to get those HD file sizes down to maybe a 1/4 of their current size without any visible loss in quality. But I know, re-rendering can be a pain, so I'm not going to complain. For those wanting a much smaller file size you can download the HD version from youtube. Although, admittedly, it's no 1080p.

I think the 1080p version is somehow bugged.. It's not probable that a 2.8ghz dual core processor with 4 gigs of ram and hd4850 would have any difficulties with running a 1080p vid smoothly. something must have happened there.
Other than that, that was a hell of a video. I really enjoyed watching it.

I downloaded the 560 Mb version which froze around the 3 minute mark, anyone else have this problem?

The whole video is obviously awesome what can you say :-D.

I just learnt that same excaliburcombo as the one early in the video...but how you pulled that one off with no pirouette first is crazy. Passingstuff and 1D was nice.

Have to dl from youtube though as Sean suggested, it wont work with the big links. Doesn´t matter, vid is quality even if picture isn´t :-D.

Yeah, the big links keep stopping (downloading) with errors part way through for me. The HD version from youtube is still quite good. Or even better, the Juggling.tv download.

I've watched it a couple times more since the first time. Liking it even more. Every bit of it was a highlight for me. There isn't one weak moment.

Insane skills...

Highlights :
The high throws directly into 3low, theses are... hard.
2:02, been working on that myself, never got to that point  :P
3:08, I usually hate leg tricks, but this was awesome
and 3:33 of course, looks so much better than Martin Mall's  ::)

One of the best videos ever... Thanks guys  :)

Bloody lovely! JTV-featured.

JTV now offers a sensible sized 1080 version:
Single-click the "Original file Download" button to download a 230MB 1920x1080 pixel mp4 version of the video. (The page still says it's 720x480 at the moment, but ignore that).

Wow - that was lovely. I've always liked the way you both make use of the air above in the traditional sense as well as some focus on low technical stuff. Don't get me wrong, the high stuff has technical excellence too!

I think my fave was that huge half shower passing moment.

Thanks for putting the effort in making this video! The quality contributes to the watching pleasure as well as the locations are all beautiful and of course the diabolo techniques presented in the video are almost all amazing, way beyond me. I really like the passing and the solo swaps are cool.
But I didn't like the "contact" style, seeing you guy's do that. Although I think it is a very rich area, I would like to see you push those boundaries more. I have to say, seeing the 2 diabolo stuff, can't wait to see you do some of that with 3. Anyway I'm drifting off a bit, great video guys! I will download it!
