Awesome, thanks for sharing. Love that 2 High with bounces :D
-
Wow, thanks for sharing that. He's just... mad! I love his work :D
-
Wow that was amazing! Everything there was so smooth.
-
Great stuff. The more I work on 3, the more impressed I am by how good he is!
-
That 2 start was awesome: whiped duicide -> BTB -> sun to front.
-
It also makes me think how good Antonins performance must have been to beat that! I haven't seen any footage of it though... They're both diabolo legends.
-

I was just thinking that must have been his practise run to not have done better than he did. I think he wore a black shirt in competition. If you do a search for "Trash Vegas Montage" or something similar, Trash made a montage when in Vegas (*shock*). It has some of the WJF diabolo stuff that he was able to sneak out from under Jason's nose.
Some awesome tricks though, I agree that duicide BTB start was gnarly. The double pirouette under 3 was smooth too. And I love how BTB high throws make you look like you're trying to limbo.

yup, all nuts. I am pretty sure he wore that costume in the comps aswell, i think there is some comp footage in there actually. But hats off to him for all that, i actually missed his exhibition becuase i was having lunch with... someone  So i'm glad to see the highlights there.
Shame he didnt film any practise footage for it, like his 3 clips on his site.
-

From the kajillion videos I've watched, this trick might just be the greatest.
This seems like one of those tricks that a mortal might hope (perhaps eternally) to land once in practice, but only the preternaturally burly would attempt in front of an audience, much less in a world class competition. And only a resident of, say, Asgard or Olympus could land with that much style.
-
it wasnt in competition, very little of that footage was, almost none infact. But yes, i agree with the rest, especially style, no-one touches Ryo on that front.
-
Does he do lessons? :P
-
 Now that was amazing. How many years has he been diaboloing?
-
sorry for doing this, but i cant download any of the videos without an alternate link... and can only run .mov files with vlc player so they dont open for me:

-
hey thanx Nez, that means a suprising amount
-
nice video norbi shame about the lack of diabolos though... also is that wes the same one that posts here, i dont think it is, as our wes would definately be showing his diabolo stuff off. Vova is gonna take a few world records for club endurance soon im sure, he is by far the greatest club juggler around.
-
nice video norbi shame about the lack of diabolos though (1)... also is that wes the same one that posts here, i dont think it is, as our wes would definately be showing his diabolo stuff off (2). Vova is gonna take a few world records for club endurance soon im sure, he is by far the greatest club juggler around (3).
1) yeah sorry about that, but diabolo didnt seem to fit the feel of the video, so i left it all out.
2) No, he is an american, Juniors champ, awesome juggler and only 14, a lickle too much repetition in his vid for my liking though.
3) Are you forgetting Gatto? By FAR the greatest club juggler around. Vova's 6 clubs is about 250 catches and Gatto's is 4min40, Vova's 7 clubs is around 150 catches, Gatto is touching 3 minutes. Gatto's 5 clubs is 45 minutes (although Thomas holds it with 53 minutes) and Vova thinks that its just dumb to juggle for that long. Not mentioning 8 clubs, which Gatto holds at 12 catches and has for 14 years.
Just a thought, or 2
-
lol, that reminds me... have you seen Jason's video of 'Tricks that Anthony (gatto) can't do'? Very amusing... (Link below)
http://www.jasongarfield.com/video_clips.html
(this link will take you to the page. you'll see the video further down on the page)
-
Ooo, just a lil in bad taste. But non-diabolo related. So bad boy!

-
norbi, im playing the devil's advocate here, but how does endurance juggling make someone a better juggler?
let's say i could do 3d low longer than Ryo, Tony, or Trash. does that make me a better diaboloist? if i could somehow hold 10 diabolos for 10 catches, does that make me a better diaboloist than JiBe or Priam?
Jason's videos are pretty funny, and they kind of prove a good point, dont you think? i mean, im not saying i completely agree with Jason. I dont think anyone can say who the "best" juggler of anything in the world is.
still, since Gatto wont compete, we'll never know eh? they should have HORSE but for juggling...
-
I think there are to many aspects to call anyone "the greatest", numbers, orginallity, difficulty of tricks, and how three club tricks compare to 5 club ones and so on.
But I would gladly call you the greatest diaboloist matt_ if you did 10 :P Any day of the week.
-
haha, even if somehow i did 10d for 10 catches i wouldnt be anywhere near as great as any of those people i mentioned...my point was (and is) that style and originality are more important than sheer number of things juggled.
it makes sense, right? certainly, doing 8 clubs, 6 diabolos, 12 balls is something to be proud of. but i dont think that fact alone would establish anyone as "the best".
-
the sentence i was commenting on was "Vova is gonna take a few world records for club endurance soon im sure, he is by far the greatest club juggler around"
So you see, i was pointing out that Vova isnt going to get any endurance records soon becuase the true greatest juggler holds them at a ridiculous level. I'm not saying endurance is better than tricks (like i said, Tony has a better 4 high than Ryo, but Ryo is the better diabolist [in my eyes]) BUT in this argument, where the greatest and world record endurance runs are put side-by-side, my comment was perfectly valid. was it not?
-
i stand by my statement... how olds vova 17 maybe as old as 19, cant be much more... how old was gatto when he took all the endurance records. Vova is the greatest juggler around going off the fact he won practically everything at last years WJF, including 5 club endurance. Also with his sister they have ALL the passing records for numbers and endurance. But also his 5 club routine appears to me to be far more difficult than gattos routine. The point was one day he will be the best maybe not today but hes still young and still learning.
-
i dont think it can ever be said who is the best at juggling, be it in a prop or overall. Unless there is someone who can do every trick ever done, and do them best , No one is the singluar best juggler. It all comes down to preference in the end.
Thats just my humble opinion on the subject.
-
The guys a legend. Hes really awesome
But most people on this forum are also legends :D
Id say nobody could be the best in the world, it depends on what the audiance is in to.
But as far as skill goes, hes one of the best along with a few others.
-
Sorry for promoting non-diabolo videos, but it was amusing. If Antonin did one entitled "Tricks that Ryo can't do," i would prefer it, although it would probably be pretty short.
-
yeah, probably
-
It makes no sense to make such a video, especially with diabolo, everyone has his/her base skills and his/her style. Based upon these 2 thing he or she can learn new tricks to add to that style. Ow and there is also such a thing as intrest in certain tricks or new theories.
-
i stand by my statement...(1) how olds vova 17 maybe as old as 19, cant be much more... how old was gatto when he took all the endurance records. (2)Vova is the greatest juggler around going off the fact he won practically everything at last years WJF, including 5 club endurance. (3) Also with his sister they have ALL the passing records for numbers and endurance. (4)But also his 5 club routine appears to me to be far more difficult than gattos routine. (5)The point was one day he will be the best maybe not today but hes still young and still learning.
(1) Vova is 17, and Gatto took the records all this year (except 8 clubs, which is 14 years old now, but i dunno if Vova will be doing that soon [but who knows])
(2) Interesting, so now WJF rules the juggling world? Hmmm. So he won the 5 club endurance, it wasnt as long as Gatto's 45 minutes, or Tom's 53 minutes.
(3) 'ALL' being half? They hold 10, 11 and 12, but not 9, 13 or 14.
(4) Could be becuase Gatto performs for people that don't care, Vova's mission at WJF was to impress people that do. I'm sure if Gatto had the motivation or reason too do a purely tech routine he would whup Vova's ass. Gatto is creative aswell. If you prefere 720s then yes Vova will win.
(5) Yes, i agree.
There's my 2 quid.
-
If Antonin did one entitled "Tricks that Ryo can't do," i would prefer it, although it would probably be pretty short.
It would break my heart if the great diabolists began behaving as badly, egomaniacally and negatively as the numbers jugglers do. I just can't imagine it.
-
there is no doubt that jason is a badass juggler.....definately one of the best in my opinion, but he seems like a very petty person. If he is so sure he is the greatest, then why does he need to tell it to everyone?
Someone I respect very much once told me: "If you have to tell people your cool, then your not, because if you truly are, then they can tell for themselves." and I think this holds here.
*On a side note though, Im not going to lie....I watched both videos and thought they were hysterical.
-

I think Jason only meant it as a joke.
-
Yes, but it's a rather cruel joke, don't you think? He's just a funny jerk in my opinion :P
-
lol, ok. Lets drop the juggling topic now (sorry for encouraging it), this is Ryo's thread...
-
Yes, but it's a rather cruel joke, don't you think? He's just a funny jerk in my opinion :P
i know, i think it's hilarious....i want to meet this guy he has my style 8)
Jonnyh: i guess you're right, but still, it made a good discussion eh? :D
-
Although I love juggling, and talking about it, I will bring this back to Ryo's video. I really love the dual duicide behind the back catch throw into two thing. Its amazing!
-
I love how smooth that Fan to anti suicide goes. So natural, he's awesome.
-
If you want to discuss about Jason and Anthony, please go to rec.juggling, there are TONS of posts about their fight, and all... no need to spam this DIABOLO forum with more of that "whos the greatest juggler" crap
my 2 cents
-
I agree, it's such a shame that technical juggling has seen some dark days and I'm glad that diabolo has remained such a positive and respectful area. It's great when diabolists and jugglers get together and trickswap etc. making it really enjoyable and sociable. I don't think too many diabolists have the stigma of always wanting to show that they're the best but always have time to help others and just chill out!
Yeah, diabolists are the coolest, and a pox on anyone who says it's not real juggling!

Especially when everyone knows it is Gatto
Back to Ryo, truly amazing and he will be a lot better now. I had a look at the Jongle.net forums take on this video (no mention of Gatto or Garfield I believe). I think Priam mentions that footage came from Ryo Yabes 30 min demo that only had 2 drops (and a bounce recapture).
That behind the back caught duicide 2 start is gorgeous.
(nice thoughts Chiok)
-
yes that was all from his WJF exhibition last year, over 7 months ago. We have some special treats to look forward to at this year's i reckon. Oh i can't wait!
-
Would it be possible Norbi (or anyone else who goes) to get some quality diabolo footage to bring back for us?
-
think Priam mentions that footage came from Ryo Yabes 30 min demo that only had 2 drops (and a bounce recapture).
If my French serves me right, Priam was talking about 2 drops and a bounce recapture in the finals of the competition. Ryo was trying many of his hardest tricks in the exhibition and he certainly dropped more than twice there - but what else would you expect?
-
hey the video isn't working for me, can you repost another link of it so it uses windows media player or something else? thx in advance
-

I'd expect perfection, nothing less!!! ;)
Well even though I live closer to France I'll bow down to your knowledge of French :) ( I bet your accent is even better than mine 'Bonjo'roh , je m'app'lloh Seanoh, j'abbit'oh a Leedsoh")
-
Je sais un peu francaise aussi :) et j´habiterai a Marseille pour année suivant (je ne sais pas si c´est un bon mot... )
Ok... I know there are some typos and grammaire misstakes but I´ll have better French next year... :D
-
Jambon et fromage sil vous plait.
(thats about all i know but i'll never go hungy) :)
-
Attention, vous etes en train de devier tres rapidement hors-sujet. Ceci ne saurait etre tolere sur un thread qui a deja failli deraper. Merci de revenir au sujet 8)
Marseille, hum, not so far away..
Back to Ryo, nice video, impressive cleanliness on the whole.
JiBe
-
Wait on Ryo's little info thing it says he did 6 diabolos, when did that happen.
Video Please?
Oh and its really cool to be on the same forum (and topic) as JiBe.
oh and JiBe, I was the guy that e-mailed you ages ago for help with the sun to inside knot video on your site. If you remember.
-
yeah, when did ryo do 6, cause i have the video of 5, but never heard about 6?
Also, to add to the above statement that its cool to be here with JiBe.....there are tons of really amazing diaboloists on here, which really makes this THE place for diabolo information
-
A while ago when the first WJF came around, alot of people also wondered at Ryo's profile detailing 6 diabolos, mostly it was discussed here (http://diabolo.ca/forum/index.php?topic=521&highlight=ryo+tony+high). Same situation still stands I believe. Interesting topic on what constitutes a flash, and whether or not that really is doing 6 diabolos.

-
At one point in that video there are 4 diabolos in front of him on the floor and hes using one. Does that mean he did some 5d attempts there. I would love to see some more of Ryo's 5d, i've only seen the video on his site. I don't know when that was filmed though.
Can't wait till we get a video from this years comps.
-
I am not aware of any other 5 diabolo footage. I have seen the 6 diabolo footage, it's suprisingly unimpressive (mainly because he just launches them all and then throws one again)
Judging my his amazing ability to progress, i'd say there is a good chance of his being pretty rockin at 4 diabs this year. I can't wait!
-
