Indy, you are absolutely right! Note that this is only a fast camera test - This was the first that came to mind when trying out this camera. I can assure you I have got a lot more tricks up my sleeve (Okay, I'm not a really an up-to-date integral man, but i can do a lot more than this)

Now that I have this camera I'm planning on creating my first real video. I'm just waiting for the weather to get just a bit better - some sun would be nice! ;)

Too bad I have to work almost every Thursday night! But good to know that it's possible. Is is like circus jopie was a few years ago? Anyway, I'll take a look as soon as possible.

I'm happy you say my style is so fluent. this has always been my main focus. You are right about the creativity - especially in this small video. To be honest, I stopped learning new tricks about 3 years ago... So there hasn't been a lot of progression the last couple of years (only getting a little bit better at 2d, but still nothing crazy, just simple sprinklers and fans.

I'm planning on doing a lot of diabolo this year, so I hope to get some of that creativity back!

That little finger grind tweak in the integral at the start (the stick swappy one), like completely amazed me. I dont really know why, it was just so subtle and smooth, which is what makes diabolo look stylish.

Props on the vid.
It blew me away too! At first i didn't even notice there was a small finger grind to keep the diabolo in the air for a moment longer, just long enough to stick the trick! Very impressive...

@Indy: it's true, I always use those small Henry's Jazz diabolo's - because of their size I can easily fit two of them in my bag to take with me everywhere. I realize it looks a bit extraordinary since I'm more then 2 meters tall, but I'm really used to them!

About the camera, I bought this camera for only €60,- at Blokker!

@Marijn: I have to admit i had lost my focus on diabolo in the last couple of years. Don't know why exactly, but that focus is coming back more and more! Care to meet up some time and play some diabolo?

@everybody: I realise now my main focus in the previous post was about the video quality, but still I'm curious what you think of my small routine! Can someone maybe give me some feedback?

Hi there!

I've been visiting this site for some years now, but never really contributed that much because I didn't have my own camera. Now I found a really cheap video camera i can finally start creating my own diabolo videos! This is the first small clip I've shot with it, just to test the quality of the camera. Hope you like this small diabolo routine!

....that 2d genocide was just awesome!! How long did you practice? and how good can you do it? I can imagine the ending is really hard... IF you manage to catch the 2nd diabolo - how to get back in normal position smoothly...

Congratulations with a beautiful video in general and thank you for those really inspiring and mindblowing tricks like the 2d genocide and the sprinkler variations :)

Congratulations with this great vid Ceri-Anne! I first recognized this washing machine art (it's near café de Tilt, right?) and then I noticed you standing next to it :D

I remember you were trying a lot of those string/stick tricks at Circus Jopie last year.. Great to see you continued experimenting and created these tricks! Very nice vid indeed :)

I especialy like Rei Iwakura's artistic performance! I'm not so much in to yoyo but it looks quite creative to use two or three strings on one yoyo! :)

Videos / Re: NK Juggling 2008, Daniël's diabolo freestyle 6th place
« on: July 23, 2008, 02:18:14 PM »
Thanks Martijn & Marijn (lol) for the reply's! Although I actually didn't really expect that "the more, the better" was true, I'm happy to read two people writing it's not true. My main focus is to have a nice and creative flow with 1 diabolo, more than to use as many diabolo's as possible. When I'll compete, I do not think I'll do 3d (for i can't even shuffle 3d) and I'm still doubting if I'd do 2. I try to keep the same flow with 2 as i have with 1, but it takes quite some time to have the flow, have the basic tricks AND create nice variations!

Anyway, i'll definitely compete next NK! (at least, if I'm in Holland at the time and if I won't forget to keep checking when the NK is held! ;) )

(O and yes, iroQuai = Stijn)

Too bad you had so many drops, 'cause I really liked your style and tricks! They were fast and quite smooth..

Actualy, I was a bit surprised. with 6th place I had expected some boring and bad diabolo'ing, but that wasn't true at all. I wonder where you'd have end up when you had a flawless run with this tricks!

One other thing, now i've seen (almost?) all the movies from the NK diabolo, I start wondering how important it is to do 3D. For example, everybody had a bigger score than daniël. Could have been because he had so many drops (could very well have been) but I started thinking maybe it's also because he didn't do 3d.

Although I think it's impressive if somebody can do 3D, a lot of times I fiend it more interesting to look at some innovative 1 or 2D stuff. I got the feeling a bit that "the more, the better" counts at this NK.

One other thing to add means using the modify button ;)

..most of the time when people use only two locations in a video other people tell them to put some more effort in finding locations - now it's a good thing?

Anyway, there were some creative tricks in the video! fun to watch :)

I can relate to what Thoùm is saying (i'd like to see really cool new inovative stuff, of course!) but I think it was a bit unnecessary to put it down that strong - Pranay already told us it wasn't anything special for him. It's still nice to see him upload it because those tricks are still very nice and well executed!

@pranay: Although you have a lot of skill, your movements are a bit shocky at times, which can distract me when watching your video's. When watching this short clip I had the idea your movements where getting somewhat smoother - which i really liked! I'm curious what you'll show us in the future when there'll be a more innovative / creative video!

Anyway, thnx for sharing :)

hahahaha I found it really funny when the guy did the snake and you sat on him. Even more funny when you let him continue the second time and he stopped before he was out of the screen because he was to tiered to continu :D

btw, couldn't concentrate on your ball-juggling skills because I was watching the guy do that snake.

« on: July 12, 2008, 12:43:17 PM »
I really liked the combo at 2:30 - 2:40 - starts with a really nice 2d trapeze or something, and the ending move was really smooth! :D

I wanted to compete too this year, but last fall I was told the championship would be somewhere in june or july - when I checked in may the championship was already next week and I had some other plans that day (celebrating my birthday)

Too bad! I'll probably join next year :)
