Tricks / Re: Basics I could not be bothered with
« on: November 15, 2006, 12:28:47 AM »
i cant think of a single basic ive missed. i was very methodical in my progression that way. I still do a fair amount of simple stuff now cause my style is mainly based on uber long combos. However ive forgotten most of knot tricks i learnt of diabolotricks.co.uk back in the day just cause they dont fit in combos well and really dont impress ppl either.

However if turning fans are now concidered basic then ive slipped up there cause ive very little incentive to learn them.

Gear / Fire diabolo pictures!!

lol there have been experiments with using normal diabolos with fire but they were not very successful so most ppl either buy a metal fire diabolo specifically built for the purpose like a comet or nesbit, or make a metal one for themselves. ive seen a few successful designs using metal bowels.

there was a non melt rubber diabolo on the market but i think that it got recalled cause it deformed easily. At least i know that’s why firetoys stopped selling them.

in answer to the original question i think it depends on the make/size of the wick, as well as the type of fuel.

I’ve got a Fyrefli Comet which is a nice midrange diabolo. it uses reservoir thing to hold the wick which is meant to make the burn longer but in my opinion it just makes the flames small and ****ty looking. Plus the axel is about 1cm across which sucks as it loses speed in seconds especially when using fire string which is ruff and sticky compared to nylon.

these problems can be overcome though. ive swapped the axel to a finger grind axel that i never used on my finesse and ive taken the reservoir off and now just use a concertinaed piece of wick like that of the nesbitt.

If i was to buy again i would go for either a Invinsa Square Fire Diabolo
or Nesbitt fire diabolo both of which can be found on http://firetoys.com/juggling/fire_diabolo.html

Gear / mini diabolos
« on: July 01, 2006, 12:01:56 AM »
i had a go on a mini diabolo last year. i cant remeber the name but it was just like a henrys viper yo-yo. it was a lot of fun and as sean said it is suprising what you can pull of with them.

i managed to do so simple trapeze combos, basic body orbits, uber high throws (with catchs to) as well as a normal suicide and inf-suicide. It did take alot of trys to manage a whip catch though maily because of the 15cm sticks.

Still they are grt fun and after looking back i think i might try and buy one  now that ive got some cash.

« on: June 19, 2006, 02:17:48 AM »
I went along last year 2 and there was alot of fun to be had.

As pete says there was a large amount of poi/staff spinners there and they did dominate the event but its hardly suprising as it was the first year and was the brain child of a poi spinner from homeofpoi.com.  I think there was a total of about 3 diaboloists there, but that was plenty for some diabolo specific fun.

On the plus side though cause of the amount of spinners there was alot of fire fun to be had in the evenings with some pretty good shows.

thats really cool, love it.

I think it would be rather cool to have the camera staitionary aswell though. So the diabolo spins around the camera as it might mean i dont fall out of my chair again :P

Imagine a high throw then!

Tricks / Foot kick ups
« on: April 09, 2006, 08:04:08 PM »
Thats about it yes. as it comes over you just do a simple 90 decree turn to the left and catch. ive been meaning to video it to enter into trick of the week but dont have the means to film it :(

Thinking about it if you do a flick to it just goes straight up and down behind then it should be more than possible to do a blind btb whip.

My personal fav in terms of foot usage is from idle on the floor.

Basicaly its a heel flick, like you do in football.

Its a bit a bitch but the odd times ive pulled it off so it comes over my head and straight into a combo, have resulted in uber adulation from my peers :)

« on: January 09, 2006, 08:53:46 PM »
Sorry mate but thats just a sun through the legs.

Still i do love that move, especially from a medium throw caught behind the back then straight through to do the sun out front.

Only problem is it draws every1s attention to your crutch (i say bad thing but it really depends on the company your in at the time ;) )

Note: its exatly the same trick as alot of poi ppl do aswell as rope darts artists.

Tricks / Re: I just learnt to... (2005)
« on: September 20, 2005, 10:51:31 PM »
Wierd how ive never posted in this thread before. Suppose it shows how slow my learnin has been recently however now its speeding up again atleast ive something to say here :)

Yesterday i took time watc diabology and to learn internal hyperloop to left arm stall and back. I always thought it looked so cool which it still does but i didnt think it would be simple to learn.

I also learnt both internal and external transfers. Which lead to external transfer to fan.

I also learnt that btb left backwrap to sun under the arm then stall ontop that Vux does at the begining of his stage preformance on diabology.

Just then whilst watching CSI i perfected alil 3 stage combo. Coloums - ping pong- internal transfers - ( i dont kow the name but is were you stall on the right then suicide so it wrapped then swing it twice then catch with an internal wrap) - external transfer.

Thats as far as ive got it 2day but is easily linkable with other combos ive got under my belt with 2D.
