Performing / Re: How To Become A Clown?
« on: September 26, 2010, 10:37:53 AM »
Clowning is pretty much an entirely different skill from diaboloing I'm afraid  :(

Diaboloing-wise my only advice would be to keep it SUPER SIMPLE. 1d orbits, high throws and maybe a string figure (star!?). You would probably have to talk to the kids at the same time to keep their attention :/

Fantastic! I was there and the energy was pretty freakin good. You definately had the key to it when you stopped and smiled at the audience. Maybe hold those parts for a tad longer, the audience wanted to keep clapping for you, milk it for all its worth :P.

I must've been sitting near the camera, I'm glad it didn't catch me mumbling things about wanting to severely damage your wrists :)

I'll be there with 2 buddies, as usual, glad to hear of Tempei's return, his diabolo style is super slick.

Thanks for that Luke, it was comforting to hear many of the same problems I've had ( hat, tails and buttons) and you solved the shirt coming untucked problem for me. Thanks again!

I don't think this thread can come to a close until everyone starts employing some "real" words from the English language instead of all these Anglo-Saxon derived words.

The photo of the guy with the 3 green balls gets my vote, It took me way too long to figure out how it was done. I'll vote as soon as I figure... out.... how.

i explained how you unfeed the sun 1 beat to late, you sun, go back to shuffle for one catch then throw the next, where it should pop straight out of the sun.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I wish someone had told me that when I first learnt feed the suns

Its a great trick and a super achievement and all, but do the diabolos have to collide? I've never been a fan of seeing that

What are we talking about with the 2-3-1-2-3? Siteswap? FTS?

Feed the sun combo, so, a 2 diabolo sun, then a 3 diabolo sun then a 2 diabolo sun etc.

the 451515151... is siteswap

High- Too many- Great public show, got to attend so many more workshops, 4 days length was perfect. Had some AMAZING Japanese food after the convention.

Low- Realising that my Minigens finishing on right and left wraps in about 4:1 ratio was a pain in the ass for Will's integral workshop.

Goal- Not forgetting to learn anything I wanted to learn, took a notebook for the first time ever, very glad I did

Crush- Besides from the usual Will crush, Ben of course, he's got some wicked skills. (i.e needs to make a video)

Surprise- Ditto of what Will said about Hamish. Also, asking Will to show me a 3-2-1-2-3 and then seeing Ben bust it out super clean before Will landed it was a huge surprise. ( I still never saw you do it Will)

Thanks- Christian for organising it of course, and Matt Hall for showing us some sweet Vertax tricks, and Japanese games.

Tricks / Re: Starting and correcting 2 diabolos
« on: August 09, 2009, 11:44:54 AM »
I found when learning it that dropping your left hand suddenly stops the non-wrapped diabolo on the string as it moves from right to left (right handed), at which point you can pop it up to be wrapped when you like. Hope that helps.

3:32 - 3:55 was sublime. I'm not usually a fan of slack stuff or string figures, but that whole combo was fantastic.

Tricks / Re: What defines slack? ???

I would call a slack trick any trick where the string isn't in tension. So I guess Google has the right idea

Oh yeah, there wasn't a topic for this, I posted last year's one I think. Anyways I'll be there ( Lachlan in the video) and I'll be going with a few circus buddies which includes Jonny. ( Jonathon in the video). Pretty sure Will (<3) said he was going last time I checked.

I really liked the 2d tricks as well, what was the name of the 2nd song, the one near the end? I recognise it from somewhere.
