Videos of the Week / Re: VotW: 29 May 2012: Samuli

Really slick Samuli, beautifully done.

It's awesome to see you nailing the thumb rolls!

Should have done this sooner!

As always, I had a great time. Catching up and jamming with Marky Jay, Ollie and Andy was a particular highlight, as well as my act and workshops going well too (again, many thanks to team SL for the opportunity!).

Just a shame that more familiar faces weren't around. I guess we'll have to arrange a meet up of sometime soon.

So yeah, great festival, great vibe, looking forward to the next one.

It'd be awesome to have a meet up. It seems we're long overdue for one, anyway, so yeah, I'm totally up for it!

I live in  East London (Zone 2), and you guys are welcome to crash at my place, if you wanted to.

Magic wall 2 anybody?

Ken are you coming for Thursdays fun?

With bells on my toes and a smile on my face! Really looking forward to it, considering how awesome it was last year.

As for fancy dress, all I've got is a suit/tie/shirt/shiny new black shoes arrangement, will that suffice?

Hey man,

Just had a brief look through my music library and found a few 2 minute (...ish) songs.

Israel - Miles Davis  Miles Davis - Israel

Move - Miles Davis  Miles Davis - Move

Organ Donor - DJ Shadow dj shadow - organ donor (this one isn't the album version. Sorry...)

Alice - Pogo Pogo - Alice
Session - Linkin Park  Linkin Park - Session

Cure for the Itch - Linkin Park  Linkin Park - Cure For The Itch

KYUR 4 TH ICH - Linkin Park  Linkin Park - Kyur4 Th Ich

I guess alot of these songs aren't really in the style of Wax Tailor (I'd say 'Alice' is the closest), so yeah, I apologise for that. Apologies too for the long list of songs rather than just links... I seriously need to get better with computers.

Hope this helps, and good luck for tonight!

Heya Chloe,

Are you staying on campus or nearby the campus of your University? If so, the nearest tube would be Holborn, which is quite handy, putting you in the heart of transport links and such.

The three juggling groups/workshops nearest you would be The Circus Space workshops over in Old Street on a monday, Spinning @ over in Aldgate East (Brick Lane) on a Tuesday, and The Oddballs juggling club in Camden (the nearest tube would be Camden Town) on a Wednesday. Perusing a tube map may be of help in finding the tube stops, but do look at the info in the link seán_ provided; there's loads of useful info and contact numbers there.

As for a meet up, that'd be cool! I'll send you a message.

Good luck with the move, and see you soon!

That was lovely. The filming (as has been said several times) was absolutely sublime, so kudos to Mike for that.

I thought that shot from 0.20-25 was amazing... I guess I quite like the contrast of there being stuff going on, but the shot itself being so still and focused. Also, that combo from 0.30-45 was awesome! I'm really liking those two handed whip catch type tricks at the moment, and you pulled it off nicely.

I know you've already said it's unlikely, but I'd like to echo Hath's statement about you coming over. It'd be awesome to have a session at some point.

As always, stellar work, Jesse.

As far as I know (and I don't know much, in all honesty...), there isn't a dedicated ring juggling forum out there. However, there is (The IJDB). You could try asking over there, as I think you'd be more likely to get a constructive response.

For now though, you should consider checking out the following article:

It's a wonderful, comprehensive passage on the vast possibilities of ring juggling, written by Luke Burrage. I'm not much of a ring juggler, but I found it really helpful and informative when I read through it.

Hope this helped, and good luck, Jasper.

Videos / Re: Collaboration Video 2009

As always, a fantastic video. Brilliant effort everyone, especially you, Jesse; regardless of whether people liked it or not, or if they're upset about not being included, no one can deny the hard work you clearly put into this project. HUGE thanks your way, man :).

I few things (there are many!) that I thought were cool about this year's collab...

The bit with Duncan and Looby walking into shot was a wonderful piece of editing. It fitted beautifully.
Susannah, I love how in your shot, your diabolo colours match with at least one item of clothing you're wearing. That was a nice touch indeed!
Ceri-Anne, your first clip made me chuckle. I didn't notice what happened at first, but when the penny dropped, I couldn't help but smile.
Aaro, those flourished mini gen's were awesome. I think what I liked the most was that they were so subtle, again, I didn't quite realise what was going on at first!

But yes, well done, I'm looking forward to what next year's installment brings.

I'll say that Ken, your exit stage left cracks me up every time. Damn I wish I'd managed to meet you in London.

Same here, Sean. It's a shame that the snow derailed all our plans... If you're ever in London again, look us all up!

I should be around for that weekend. Only after 6 on Saturday, though. Looking forward to it. Are we meeting anywhere in particular?

Videos of the Week / Re: VotW: 30 November 2009: James
« on: December 03, 2009, 12:19:09 PM »
James, as everyone else has said, that was truly a magnificent trick. It's a shame that small and contained stuff like this goes ignored in favour of the (ahem) 'bigger' and more archetypal tricks, so it's lovely to see a trick like this when it pops up :).

I'll definitely give this a try, thank you for sharing!

A single, honest critique is worth a thousand comments like 'OMG!!1!', 'Cool', 'Nice job', 'XD' etc.

I didn't see the comments posted, but that's just how I feel.

Gear / Re: finesse g1 tm 4
« on: October 08, 2009, 04:37:22 PM »
From what I remember, the rims on the G1 are flat, whereas the rims on the G2 and G3 have been indented. The G2 (my G2's at least) have one little raised 'bump' on each of the rims, whereas the G3's (again, my G3's at least) have a three sets of raised 'bumps' on each of the rims; going clockwise round from the first 'bump', there's then a set of two and finally a set of 3. As for the G4, it looks radically different from G1, 2 and 3; whereas the cups on the G1, 2 and 3 flare out slightly, the cups on the G4 curve in. From what I remember, the axle is a bit larger as well. That, and it's a bit heavier than the previous models, too.

Hope that made sense (apologies if not)...

It would be a good idea to read through some of the comments/post your video in the following thread:

Good luck! ;)

Mark, I hope you'll be wearing your dashing white suit also. That'll make for an awesome spectacle.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make this one... I'm rather skint currently :'(.

Thanks for looking into it Looby; it's nice having some figures to work with and such.

Providing I can get the money, I'd certainly be up for it. I'd also be 21 by those dates, although I'm still working towards getting my driver's license.

funty looby hath Toby ken? if you guy's were to agree on a way of getting there I would seriously concider joining you.

As everyone else has said, I'd also love to go to both EJC and FDC. I've never been abroad, so this is a damn good reason to!

Just need to get my passport sorted now... ;)

Thanks for posting that, Void; the picture quality is sublime!

BMC, I did want to sew on patterned circles similar to the ones on my t-shirt, but didn't get the time... :( I've been told it might also be better to go for trousers, or longer shorts, rather than shorts. It helps to cover the angles of the body. As for main show at Southern Lights? Man, that's a serious compliment right there! Thanks buddy.

Hath, I don't think I could match your display in a mankini, as tempting as it is ;). Thanks for the shout about the show, too!

Still really glad all you guys enjoyed it. Much respect.
