Nope, but I'll give it a try now.

Community & Events / Impromptu diabolo performances (and unity day)

I'm from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, USA and I have never found another person to diabolo with. Never been to a festable or anything. I have a buddy I taught diabolo but he's not even close to my level so it's not nearly as fun. :-/ I want someone I can learn from. There is a college around me that has a club and we'll go there. Also we are starting a club up at my college which should be fun. So anyways,

And if you know of a festival or something let me know as well.

I almost wasn't going to put this on here but it made my laugh WAY to hard when I wrote it... I was having a conversation with a pretty lady and well, this came out.

ne00xide: It's like diabolo, everyone has to start somewhere. I just spin faster and last longer.... And do some pretty sweet tricks. ;)

I think we are all old enough to appriciate the comical value of that statement. I hope you all enjoy my sick humor as much as I did. If not, I apologize in advance and may this be deleted asap.

P.S. Now I just need to figure out how to do two... Hahaha

That is a very sick trick. Props

Tricks / A question of spin...
« on: June 13, 2005, 07:09:00 AM »
All of that definately comes with time. My chinese whips were soooo ugly first time I did them. Matter of fact I think I hit myself in the face... anyway, you don't need a ball bearing diabolo to get good spin. I prefer finesses with weights (seeing as they are very light) the heavier the diabolo, the faster it'll spin. Most people prefer henrys circus which are about 300g. So in the end it comes down to technique and weight. You're diabolo is probably fine for now, so just brush up on technique. :)

General / What makes for an interesting diabolo video?
« on: June 05, 2005, 12:27:42 AM »
I'd have to agree. Seeing as I'm making my first video currently I'm enjoying all this help. Forest backgrounds seem to be my favorite when watching but I also like the idea of something fun in a very unfun place. Like bright colors and diabolos in the middle of a junk yard, I think it makes the diabolist stand out aside from the interesting background. :)

That all looks great. I wish there was a picture of the other sling holders.

Gear / Holster/Sling for Diabolists
« on: June 04, 2005, 06:52:36 AM »
I've only seen one type of sling for holding and carrying diabolos. I have the bag from my first diabolo set. It was from Quidam, Cirque Du Soleil. I've been using that clear bad as a sling around my back to show my two Harlequins proudly. And since today is my birthday (19 years old) I'm getting two new Finesses. :D

Anyway, this is the one type I've found:

I was wondering if anyone knows of any other type of holster or sling.

PS I'm going to Vegas just to see two Cirque Du Soleil shows in less than a month.  :D  :D  :D  :D

I've began prototyping the chatroom. It'll be hosted at It's a very reliable, very stable chatserver. If anyone has any other idea please feel free to let me know.

Maybe I could ask Sean if he'll host a page for a chatroom applet I could make for Room could be on #diabolo. I would be glad to write something for all of you guys to come together and chat. What do you think about that?

13 Policy & Feedback / Chat Room
« on: May 09, 2005, 08:21:52 PM »
I was reading through the forums like usual today and got to thinking. I wondering if there is a chat room where everyone goes to talk (almost) in person. And if there isn't, maybe we could make one for the forums? Where I'm from no one knows what a Diabolo is, which is pretty sad. I've managed to convert a few people into diabolists. But anyways, what I'm getting at is I enjoy talking to people with the same hobbies as I so a chatroom could be a cool idea.

Anyones thoughts on this?

I notice after a few hours in the back yard with only a beater on (shirt that exposes all of your arms) I have quite a few string lashes on my arms... :-/

Was having trouble with the sprinkler for some time until recently. Landed a triple sprinkler suicide out. I was pretty happy with it. Still having problems with the time on it. I can't seem to just hold it there while it spins by itself. Probably just need more practice. :)

Gear / String Length

Ah, I am a bit taller than average. Regular overarms is still hard for me seeing I am new to this.

Gear / String Length
« on: April 23, 2005, 01:06:40 AM »
Yea, I see how it can be "logical". I realized I was using pretty cheap string that came with the harlequin diabolo I bought. So I put a new, MUCH cleaner and slipperier string on and it works great now. Biggest problem is when I attempt an arm stall with two diabolos I don't have enough string to have each hang and keep spinning, it's about nipple height on me, I'll use about shoulder length from now on. I like my string longer for some reason.

Thanks :)

Does string length have anything to do with the diabolo getting wrapped up in the string? Or is it the string type that determines that? When I'm doing the shuffle and I try to wrap the right side to get it going a little faster and throw it back in, it wraps up almost every time.

Yes, I appriciate it very much. I asked because when trying to go around both arms I seem to not have enough string. I'll probably go neck to chin
height and see if I can get used to a longer string. I prefer long orbits to short whips anyway. :)
