Videos / Re: To steal or not to steal (from yospin vid)
« on: July 13, 2007, 01:46:17 PM »
A few weeks ago we had in the spanish forum the same discussion... But I'm going to say my own point of view. I also want to be a professional (I'm in a circus school right now entering 2ยบ year) so I really understand arjan but at the same time I understand many of you. It's true that copying tricks makes diabolo evolution... but is that a reason to post a video with a trick to have copied from another person?

Here in spain I've been a year teaching diabolo in nearly all the conventions and I start always with a small speech where I talk about this. When we had this same thread on the spanich forum stung (JDZ) remembered me the first time I met them. They were good diaboloist they had been training for not so much but they had copied all the tricks from diabology, but not just that they had some jibe leg movements on the same tricks. So I told them my usual speech about how in diabolo it's much easier to create an original rotuine just If you think a bit more not just copyig. I really think the diabolo in comparison with other juggling objects it's very easy to be original. Well this guy now is one of the more original diabolists I've seen and their act is very original.

Another point we got on the theme in spain was to what point internet is doni good to diabolo. In my case I watch a lot of videos  ( really I have a lot) And I like watching videos and really they've helped me a lot. But I've nere watched a trick in slow motion so I can get it. I just get some ideas of what the other person does. So form my point of view internet makes ba to dibolo depending the way you use it.

arjan good luck in becoming a professional.

well infoncundibles really doesn't mean anything. It's a game of words, thay are really brothers and their surname is foncubierta and in spanish inconfundible is someone that you can't get confused with, so if you mix both words it's infoncundibles  (I'm not sure It's very clear if you don't understand I can try to explain it again) It's incredible in how many festivals and conventions people get foncused with the name!  ;)

guppygould you're true, they're very good performers. I think I've seen there dhow at least 15 times and I've liked them all. As you said their rutines are veeery creative and pehaps they don't have very dificult technique tricks but that is not the important point (at least for me  ;) ) I hope that any of you come to spain and have the opportunity to wath them!!!

Performing / Re: good stage presence
« on: January 31, 2007, 11:17:54 AM »
I think all the things said will help you... in my experience of performer and audience I've noticed that jugglers in general always try to give all the importance to the object they are juggling... forgeting the body and sometimes the public. As said before eye contact is really important... but is more important to have stops were de crowd can applause while you're looking at them. If you have a dorp in your show that affects you as a juggler and on scene that should be brought up... I'm not saying to kick your diabolo as you do in practice... nor to run quickly to the diabolo without looking at the crowd and start the rutine right  away... you have to do something there... it depends on what kind of show you're doing and what character you have but something should be done there.

Also as they said I find it easier to perform with a character....when I juggle in front of a crowd without a character I get really nervous and get a lot of drops and without a character I find very difficult to do something with the drops, the only thing I manage to do is to get more nervous.

well these things have helped me when I perform but the real thing that helps is practice, like you practice tricks you have to practice you're stage presence, Every time you act it will get better. Important as someone said before tape yourself and not only to watch the technique part but everything that happened on stage... when did the crowd applause, when did they love... how much stage you used, how much times you looked to the crowd, if the stops where on the right moment... etc

good luck!

Videos / [video] hermanos infoncundibles diabolo show
« on: January 09, 2007, 10:46:03 PM »
well here I post a video of the diabolo and guitar show of: "Los hermanos Infoncundibles" from spain. This show took place on unimalabar, a convention which is held every year in valencia (spain) on july. They usually do street performance and they adapted the show for stage. Hope you like it. The quality isn't really good and the sound is really low, just remember to have the volume very high.
