Thanks for the extensive list Wis! I will definitely check out that stuff, especially the new diabolos  :-D

Not sure if you were around for this or not, but the full Planet Diabolo Project released in December 2014.

(To the best of my memory at least)

EDIT: Nope, I was wrong, that was 2013. Nevermind me.

Yeah I dropped off the forum pretty much right after that, thanks Icebox! haha

General / Anything great happen in the past two years?
« on: February 18, 2016, 02:47:23 AM »
Hello everyone!

It's been just over two years since I last logged in to the forum. I remember around that time my last piece of string broke and I never got around to ordering a new roll. Yesterday a friend gave me his old pair of sticks so I decided to get back into diabolo.

It's great to see a lot of the old members still here and all of the new members who have joined since then too!
So this is probably a silly question but has anything unique happened in the two years I was gone? Exceptional videos I should watch, new records, 4 low progress, new vertax tricks etc... (just to save me a bit of digging right now, but I'll do some too). The one thing I did check and was surprised about was no new videos from Eljas or Joona (I was always a fanboy :P)

Cheers!

Mediaboy13 Where the heck are you to read THIS?????????????????
and we want you to know that we all love to respect your request. :) :)
YOOOO! I am so late to the party! I took a huge break from diabolo and the forum but logging in for the first time in years to see this really made me smile!  :-D

Appreciate all the replies and the fact that The Void actually went through with what he said.

The one I have is blue and green and works great on my shining, not as good on a fly but still pleasing results.
I'll try find the link as I bought mine a while back.  :P

Hope that helps!  :-D

he clearly said that he wants a fly, not a sun.
I know, but technically a fixed Fly is a Sun, just transparent cups and slight weight difference that could be modified easily.

Hey there, just wondering is there any particular requirement (1D, 2D, 3D etc...) or can it just be any trick with any amount of diabolos we want? Also can people submit multiple pictures?

Sorry to bump this up.
I did watch this when it was first posted and downloaded it straight away.
Brilliant job Harvard and every diaboloist in the video, I'm very happy I finally made it into a collab video!  :-D

Tricks / Re: How many time to do 3 diabolos ?
« on: December 26, 2013, 05:11:41 AM »
still don't really get it  :(
Say you have a white, blue and red diabolo. Every time each colour goes OVER THE TOP it counts as 1 ott. It's basically a way of measuring catches like with 3 high, but instead with low.

Hope that helps!  :-D Sorry if it was confusing

There was one on her somewhere, but from what I remember it was a little too simple and not detailed enough. I'll try find it (and if you know what I'm talking about you should too) but it is a pretty hard trick to master.  :P

Well, I've got like 3 catches best record --' I still don't have it, but I don't have enough time to practice with school...  :-|
I feel your pain, I've been trying on and off for around 2 years (I think) with self starts and 2 person starts. Haven't really gotten anything solid but my best was about 9 otts (also do people still use that as a 'measurement'?). With school it can be hard putting time in but my school has circus as a class (performing arts school) so I can practice there, maybe try bringing your diabolo to school and practising before/after school and at recess/luch.

Hope that helps!  :-D

Videos / Re: Some runs with 6 diabolos + New record
« on: November 13, 2013, 02:50:37 AM »
Last run is 9 catches! Excellent work, very soon it will become cleaner and cleaner (possibly even a 7D high attempt if you can hold that many diabolos  :P )!

The way I see it, the person managed to get 6 diabolos in the air. Personally I don't particularly care how that person did it, but they did it. I'm not going to get picky about whether they tossed 5 of them with their hand (which is still bat**** crazy cool) or whether someone threw them up for them.

I say 9 catches/10 throws/whateveritscool

I agree with this, it's about catches not throws, all the throws from the arm go similar height to the diabolos thrown from the string anyway!  ;)

I honestly prefer your version better as it looks smoother and more slow giving you time to see how clean the trick it. I'll have to give it a try sometime.  :)

Keep it up!

I'm very interested in this and would love to attend! Really been wanting to do some open stage stuff recently and the juggling games sound like fun to.
I'll let you know if I'm 100% attending sometime soon, it would be great to meet up with you and other Australian jugglers/diaboloists and share some ideas/tricks and film some clips!  :-D
