Videos / Video of William! (from WJF)
« on: February 20, 2006, 09:10:56 PM »
Yeah, well, I guess that's what you get when non diaboloists put up videos of diabolo.  Sure, being able to do six jump rope jumps under a diabolo is pretty cool, but it won't be what experienced diaboloists are looking for... Oh well.

I don't think the shows have even been put together yet.  What time were they last year?

I'm not sure if the diabolo scoring system was reworked, but I know the other scoring systems were changed.  One difference from this year's judging to last year's was the judges, none of them were diaboloists.  Oh well, if I had to place them in an order from first to fourth, I would have place the competitors at the same places.

I didn't realise Norbi aalready mad a couple of posts about the diabolo scene at the WJF.  Well, there's a few of William's tricks (or those from other diaboloists) in the WJF convention clips at

Oh, there's a trick from Tempe too.

OK, I just got back from the WJF.  I know everyone thought that the Diabolo competition would be just Norbi and Yabe, but it wasn't.

The competition started with Norbi, who did pretty well.  He seems to have gotten a lot better (at least from what I can tell from his vids.)

Then a Japanese juggler (living in England) named Tempe was up.  He did some pretty nice stuff.  The highlights of this were in his excaliber section where he did a double genocide, a genocide to somehow bringing the handsticks behind his back or something, and a triple genocide!

Then Yabe was up.  If you've seen his IJA routine from this year, you've seen his WJF routine.  Unfortunately I think there were more drops.....

Then there was a diaboloist from (I believe) Taiwan named William.  Basically, he would have owned at the IJA.  It was weird because he had quite a few poses and went along with the music pretty well.  But he was fantastic.  He had no drops, creative excaliber shtuffff, a few MFP tricks, and a ton of energy.  He did some REALLY fast one diabolo stuff.

The competion rocked.  Here is the official order:

4. Norbi
3. Tempe
2. Yabe
1. William

I don't know the scores.  Norbi, feel free to fill in any more details or correct me when you get back home.

I'm going.  I was thinking about competing in something like beginner rings, but decided just to go hang out and have a good time.  Norbi, I can't wait to meet you.  I can't wait to see so many people and such awesome juggling.

Gosh, CM you make me so jelous.  But it's cool.  Watching you be good at juggling and all your sweet stuff with diabolo is awesome.

Unfortunately I've gotten away from the world of diabolo.  If I get a Finesse and better handsticks at SIRCUS or WJF I'll probobly get back into it.

Keep it up everyone.

I know it's not the string because it is brand new.  Is there some way that I can fix it without buying a new axel?  I'm saving my dough for IJA right now.

One of my diaboloes seems to stick more than my other diabolo.  Durring wrapped orbits, my blue diabolo over wraps more often than my green diabolo does.  The blue one has had more use if that has anything to do with my troubles.  If there is anything that can be done to remedy my situation, any help would be appretiated.

I'll see you there Matt.  I will probobly go to your excalibur workshop too. I've been working on that but can't seem to get it.

CM and I are going to do a diabolo and cigar box routine in the youth showcase. Perhaps you'd want to check it out.

I'll see you next week.

Nice video Brian.

Matt you're not going to IJA? That's too bad. CM and I are going to do a diabolo and cigar box routine at the youth showcase.

I'm not in this video.

You may know my older brother as the cigar box kid from the Circus Company.
