Videos / One more
« on: July 13, 2014, 09:00:00 PM »
Almost forgot to post this here too.

Mikah and me have been making videos since 2009. I haven't been practicing for years and have literally learned two new tricks since 2011. But we thought that that shouldn't stop us from doing another video, so here is one more video... Possibly the last, who knows? In any case, Mikah did an awesome job, as always!

Great video and even better convention!

I've seen similar discussions to this on a lot of forums. People share a common interest but there is only so much you can talk about it, and as time goes by the forums die.

I don't post much anymore but I still read almost daily.

Now that was a pleasant surprise! Well done.

I have. If you're doing it like you are in the video, you're releasing it the wrong way. If you do it like that, then yes a one-way bearing will help. In the long run you should learn to it the right way though. My advice is to try releasing it to your right.

Genocides are much easier with a fixed axle. If you can do it properly, it really doesn't matter which diabolo you use. It's a matter of preference, but if your technique is good, you can use pretty much any diabolo. I prefer circuses, some prefer suns, etc.

where have you been there?

I don't understand what you are trying to say.  It was filmed in Vancouver if that's what you're asking.

Thanks a lot everyone! Really appreciate the feedback. And no, I am not trying to look like Bob Ross, haha. This is the vertigo shot:

Long time no post.

I entered the Madskillz Vancouver video contest with Mike Sharkey to promote the festival. Here's my entry: 2011 Madskillz Vancouver: Flow Juggle Spin Festival CONTEST ENTRY [Jesse Gehlen]

I have been incredibly lazy this past year, so there aren't many new tricks, but hope someone will find it interesting.

Also, I believe this is the first time the Vertigo shot was used in diabolo video history.  8)

Technical / Re: What Camera?

It's not about the camera, it's how you use it.

If you don't have much experience in filming or editing, starting cheap is a good idea in my opinion.

I think you misspelled Marijn's name in his first clip. Not a big mistake though and those happen. Other than that it was great! It was a pleasant surprise. I really like how the editing is a lot different from the previous ones. Not a fan of the music, but it works well with the editing.

Great job Nico! I really enjoyed this one.

I don't recommend drinking from diabolos. It makes your shoes disappear.

I don't know what to say anymore. Most of the time I yelled out loud "No way!" and literally laughed while shaking my head in disbelief.

Like Crackers said, this is easily the best video ever.

I don't really watch beginner videos either, but that was fantastic! I do agree that you should work on those endings though. Other that nice work!

Don't worry about your English, it's fine.

Loved the new trick jam video. Jumper's offensive slow mo video is pure gold.

I will be driving from Kuopio to Joensuu with Tommi and Kusti on Friday or Saturday. I'm pretty sure no one needs a ride from Kuopio, but I can make trips to other cities if no one else is able to.

I'm in a bit of a hurry, so I'll go into more detail when I have more time.

I've chosen the music for a video in advance once and it's easily my favourite video I've done and the one I'm most proud of. For me it worked incredibly well and I definitely recommend doing that.

As for copyright issues. I've actually emailed bands and labels and asked them if I could use their music. At least 40% have said yes. I don't know how well that would work with bigger bands though.

I don't really know what style of music works best. A lot of diabolo videos have very similar music, so trying something different would also be good in my opinion. In the future I'd like to try a song that shouldn't work at all in a diabolo video and make it work somehow.
