General / Juggling Clubs - Rules and Regs?
« on: June 23, 2005, 08:01:07 AM »
G'day Y'all

My local juggling club, in Edinburgh, has been asked by the local council to go "official" and its causing some grief.

As part of the requirements, there must by a minimum of 2 registered members at every meeting (if kids are present) and to be registered you need to have your background checked out.

All this is understandable, but being an easy going kind of club (as most juggling clubs are), no-one is keen on committing themselves to a regular attendance schedule.

Has anyone else undergone the same thing at their club and was there any easy way to comply?

Videos / 1D Grind with a Twist
« on: February 19, 2005, 02:44:15 PM »

I'm trying to nail this particular grind but I am having trouble getting it sussed. It's the one where the starting move is to grind it behind your back and then continue the motion all the way through a 360o body turn.

There's a point where the the wrist needs to "break", or else there would be a real break of the painful variety. Its at this point that I usually lose it.

Is the right technique to give the Diabolo a little bit of air so that the "break" can be a carried out without affecting the diabolo?

Any links to videos showing this would be  much appreciated.

Videos / Priam in Bilbao, Spain Dec 04 3 high/low/high/low
« on: January 26, 2005, 08:26:19 AM »

This was taken in Bilbao, Spain, December 04 at the Gaztetxe de Kukutxa annual festival, where Priam entertained and educated.  The video was taken in a local square near to the event.

Thought it was a good demostration for people trying to learn the technique.

Gear / Diabolo Sticks - Getting the right weight.
« on: January 23, 2005, 09:31:19 PM »

I've been tossing the diabolo for a year or so, and its getting better day by day :) . However I have yet to crack Infinite suicides, Genocides and the majority of Wraps. :(

I have a sneaking suspicion that my sticks are not weighted to my diabolo, although the phrase "bad workman and tools" also comes to mind.
(Babache Harlequin and standard wooden sticks).

Q - Do different sticks make a difference?
Q - Do aluminimum sticks weigh any more?

Any advise much appreciated.

Technical / Posting Videos
« on: January 15, 2005, 09:13:09 AM »
I'm looking  for some general advise on posting videos to the forum. As in, I have a video I would like to post, whats the best way to go about it.

Do I paste a link into the message?
Do I need to load the video to the internet somehow?
Do I need to have a website?
Is it better to remove sound, to reduce size (thats if sound can be removed)?
Recommendations on different formats?

Please assume stupidity on my part for replies!
