General / vertax-right handed but i use a left wrap
« on: April 14, 2008, 09:37:56 PM »
ok i have searched but it came up with no results so i decided to make this thread
is it wrong for me to use a left wrap to get into vertax/excalibur
it makes certain tricks i know easier (vertax genocides)
but i was wondering does it limit me in any way?

Performing / the worst thing thats happened in a performance
« on: April 14, 2008, 10:49:21 AM »
ok i have decided to start this thread just to see what kind of things have happened in a performances that you have all taken part in
ill start things off
it was my school talent show and there were about 5 diabolo acts because they are very popular at our school at the minute
but only one other person could do genocide and that wasnt clean so i didnt really have much competition in that sense
so i did my 1d routine and as a surprise (nobody in our school had even heard of 2d let alone tried it) i started a 2d shuffle with a wrap start
my string was quite old but i didnt think it was really bad
i started the wrap start and it had no speed at all but i had a snare up and everything went wrong
i started it again and it all worked but it totally blew my self confidence
so, your turn

General / advice for 2d with different diabolos
« on: April 11, 2008, 07:51:11 PM »
ok i have just learned corrections and have a pretty solid shuffle going, i have a finnesse g3 (red) and a medium harlequin (blue 'n' white) and have decided to share with people the things i found helpful for keeping different sized diabolos shuffling
the first most important thing i think is that you have to concentrate on the bigger (usually heavier) diabolo
i found that my little harlequin would go all by itself and i had to control my big one a lot more
i found i had the little one needed correcting a lot as it went out of line by itself (i didn't have this problem once i got my second finesse) so my advice is try practising around the leg with one diabolo and tapping it in different places to see what happens, when you have a feel for that try to apply it to your shuffle
if anyone else has anything they thought helped feel free to post it

Tricks / problem with my 2d shuffle
« on: March 29, 2008, 01:09:23 PM »
ok i got the basic shuffle movement and can keep it for 18 throws BUT
after 18 and its always 18 it seems to fall apart, the other diabolo just doesnt come up the left side so i cant push it
any ideas
sorry if there was already a thread but i hate ressurecting old stuff

Tricks / messing around and look what i found
« on: February 04, 2008, 07:22:45 PM »
ok this is a thread for tricks that you found while messing around, not flukes but tricks that you've been able to reproduce and that look cool, instructions would be good so that other people could try them
i've got one that i found earlier when the diabolo fell off a cuckoo clock and ended in the same kind of knot you get in a trapeze cradle knot
this trick works better with a small diabolo
part 1 (cuckoo clock)
hold the left stick horizontally, bring the right stick over the top and push into the 2 strings on the back and bring your right hand up, swing the diabolo back and forth through the triangle you made
part 2 (cuckoo grind)
bring the diabolo into the middle of the "clock" and let it down onto the stick so it grinds
part 3(cuckoo knot)
let the diabolo fall off the stick and  to the right as it is grinding, this leaves a knot at the top of the string similar to the trapeze cradle knot (it undoes itself if you pull the strings apart, put both sticks into your left hand, hold the end of the string with your three fingers, throw the diabolo out of the knot and onto the string, throw the diabolo off the string and pull the sticks apart, voila you now have it spinning on an open string :D
so anyone else got anything

Gear / finesses strength?
« on: January 31, 2008, 04:55:04 PM »
ok im wondering how strong my finesse really is
its a g3 brand new and i was wondering what happens to it if you drop it from a height or if it hits something at high speed
does it scratch like my rubber harlequin or does it dent or what

Gear / finnesse axle swapping
« on: January 27, 2008, 01:14:33 PM »
ok i just ordered a finnesse g3 in red  ;D and the evo kit 1 (wide axle)
i was just wondering i've heard that some tricks are harder and some are easier with wide/shot axles
so can i swap between the short and wide axles anytime or is it a wide or short no swapping thing?

Gear / snapped sticks
« on: January 25, 2008, 06:08:36 PM »
ok i was doing that horizontal whip acceleration thingy and i may have been whipping a tad violently
i heard this click and my stick flopped over the diabolo hit my friend in the face and i had a brilliant idea
when i get new sticks i could put the nice silicon grip onto them if they fit
so which sticks should i get because my faith in energys has completely diasappeared

General / diabolo gone bad
« on: January 19, 2008, 01:49:55 PM »
hi im just posting this bacuse whilst i was looking at vids i saw this maybe 10 year old kids video which had all the basics (suns magic knot, grind)
and in the video description it says he has had his diab for a month
then about 4 people in the comments start osting at how bad he is for the amount of time he had had his diabolo
and how they had perfected infinite suicides and genocides etc within the first few days.
i was wondering if anyone else had seen the video
and i posted this to see what other people reactions would be
if you find the video please post it here as i cant find it again

i can do
chinese suicides
coffee grinders
and some suns with 180 turns etc

Tricks / new trick i made up (i think its new anyways)
« on: December 30, 2007, 04:23:12 PM »
ok its sorta hard to explain so ill do it step by step
its a very easy duicide sorta
1) get the diabolo spinning medium fast then put both sticks in the right hand

2) swing the diab in a cw motion over your left wrist so it land liks a trapeze over your left wrist

3) throw both sticks round your wristand catch them (either 1 in each hand or both in 1 hand)

4) if this is a new trick then i call it wristocide
