Community & Events / Dube Moving Location/(temporarily) Closing
« on: December 27, 2013, 06:45:55 AM »
Hey Guys,
Long time no see! It's been a long time since i've been on the forum.
I'm not sure if anyone posted this already, i did a search but nothing came up. So if it was I apologize.
So today I went to the Dube storefront in NYC for the first time, and they told me that they lost the lease on their location in the building.  They told me they would be closing shop on January 6th (better double check that date though, I could be mistaken). They said they're in the process of looking for a new location, but haven't found anything yet. I don't know whether their online store will still be functioning, but their website should say.
The point is that the store is really awesome, it's the only store i've ever been to where they don't mind you picking up a set of machetes and juggling them. (I actually kept dropping stuff, and apologizing because it was really loud on the wood floor, and the woman there kept saying, "dont worry, its fine, this is a juggling store, were used to this." If you need to purchase anything from them, i'd say that now would be the time. If your in or near manhattan, i'd say pay them a visit, because soon it may be just a piece of history.
I was actually able to get a pretty cheap monobolo from them, which is awesome because I didn't even think they would have those.
Anyway, happy Bolo-ing and happy holidays! I Hope you all got great diabolo related gifts!

General / How did you start diabolo?
« on: July 09, 2010, 03:25:57 AM »
Hey everyone,
I was reading this thread (
and it gave me an idea. If this has been done before then excuse me, I didn't know.
I'm curious as to how people started diabolo. Did someone get you into it? or did you just see it and think it was really cool? what about it specifically caught your eye/made you curious/ held your attention. and maybe what challenges you faced while learning diabolo?
In other words, your story. I think It could be pretty inspiring.

For me, I have a friend who started it. He got a spinabolo and it just looked really cool.  When I saw it I imagined myself diaboloing. I saw how special and unique a talent it is. Later on I looked up cool diabolo videos  and saw how much I had to learn, but that just made it more exhilarating.
Anyway, I borrowed my friends spinabolo, and of course broke it. That was my first major challenge. Having to face up to it,(although he wasnt very angry) and of course living with out a working diabolo until I got a new one.
My next major challenge, which I am still fighting, is realizing how slow a learner I am compared to some people on this forum.  It's discouraging to know that no matter how much I practice, others are getting what I still struggle with.
Anyway that is a summarized version of my story. What's yours?

I just made an infinite suicide tutorial.
Check it out and comment if you think it's helpful.
Also, while your there you might want to check out my video of jugglers at the Pratt Juggle this convention in Brooklyn. Not a lot of diabolo in it though.

Gear / building a monobolo
« on: January 23, 2009, 01:25:45 AM »
Hi everyone,
I was playing around with pieces from a bunch of different diabolos,
and decided to attempt making a one sided diabolo.
So I put one together using pieces from a g3 finesse, and some other diabolos. I used a roller blade wheel as a weight on the side without the cup as I don't have anything else to use. Here's what it looks like:

Unfortunately if i spin it too fast the whole thing shakes and starts to come loose. But otherwise I like it. If anyone has any suggestions on getting it to stay tighter or any other information that would help me to make it better, I'd appreciate it.
