...but this time not a yo-yo either (despite the hosting site).

Videos / New 4A video you might like...

This was just posted on a yo-yo forum, but, given the nature of its content, I think it might be appreciated here too.

Videos / Yo-yo and Kendama stuff
« on: March 15, 2006, 06:42:50 PM »
A few things of possible interest...

-  I recently made a video ( for an on-line competition using a rather unusual 3-bearing yo-yo called a Miroc.  As you'll see, it has possibilities that are somewhat beyond that of conventional yo-yos.  But could this suggest a germ of an idea that could be used by diabolo players too?  To see more, check out for the other entries, which tend to be rather more 'technical' than my own humble offering.

-  Also on the subject of yo-yos, there's going to be a small contest in Gloucester (UK) on the 26th March.  I suspect that there may be a few diabolos spinning too.  Details are at

-  Finally, out of the blue, I recently received an e-mail from Akinori Soga, a kendama player from Japan.  Apparently, he found my Kendama page and wanted to make contact.  He's promised to send me a DVD of Japanese kendama expertise which he'd like to be freely distributed, so as to promote this particular toy in the West.  As yet, I've not received it, so I've no idea (actually, I've got some idea...  :D ) what might be on it.  So, is anyone interested in seeing this?  Can anyone help spread the message to others?  I'll be at the BJC, so I should know more by then...

-  Oh yeah (finally something on-subject) I've finally started to get the hang of throwing a diabolo out of 3low.  It's only taken me 15 years ...

Community & Events / Brazilian BJC Review
« on: December 02, 2005, 05:44:07 PM »
Over on the UK yo-yo message board, Red (Brazilian 5A master...) has posted a link to a review of the Perth BJC, held earlier this year.  The link - see it at - is actually a PDF version of a magazine (in Portuguese) , so you'll have to scroll down a bit for the review.

So, why have I posted it here, too?  Well, it seems that some people's names haven't quite survived the translation and there are a couple of regulars that might be interested to know how they've been represented.

So, does anyone out there go by the name of Toby Whilly?   :D

5 Policy & Feedback / RSS Support (with the phpBB forum)
« on: January 27, 2005, 05:49:06 PM »
Having been prompted that this site has an RSS feed, I've noticed that although the XML is clearly present, Firefox doesn't seem to notice it in the usual manner (there's no RSS symbol in the bottom RH corner).  Having had a quick look at some other RSS enabled sites, could it be that we're missing something in the HTML <head> tag?  Other sites use something like this:

  <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="the url" />

Alternatively, is there an RSS-aware page here that I haven't found yet?

(A slightly confused) Guy
