Community & Events / EJC 2016 - Collab Performance
« on: March 05, 2016, 05:30:14 PM »
Hey All,

I just started this thread because I'm interested in seeing who all is going to be coming to EJC this year. Over the last couple of months I've been stewing over the idea of getting a bunch of the many talented diaboloists from this forum and putting on a showcase at one of the open stages - kind of like a " Collaboration Performance"

I feel this is a great opportunity for a lot of people to showcase their skills on stage without having the pressure of a whole routine to memorize and hit - It would hopefully be 8 - 12 of us running about doing maybe 2 or 3 mega flashy tricks each to create 5-6 minute peice of pure epicness.

Just putting out the feelers to see who would be interested, I already have some ideas about the layout of the performance and now just need the numbers.
I'm thinking we organise it to be near the end of the convention so we have the start/middle to practise.

What do ye's think?

Hey Everybody!

this is a double act me and my friend Joe have been developing on and off for over a year now, It consists of some diabolo, traditional medicinal banjo beats and some comedy.. we performed at the British Juggling Convention this year which was a fantastic opportunity and gave me more experience and lessons learned than I would've thought possible.

We performed it again last Friday in the Streetwise Annual Cabaret, this was a far more together routine than was performed at BJC and is definitely more in line with how I wanted it too look. There are some in-jokes that you guys might not get... but I hope you enjoy it all the same!

Keep er lit!
G :)

Every and all feedback and criticisms welcome!

Hey there folks, it's been a while since there's been a big discussion on the forum to get everyone involved, so i thought i'd make this thread after my new years resolution to actually practice 2D more and actually learn some decent tricks.

So, what is your:

- Favourite 2D Diaboloist

- Favourite 2D trick/ combo

- Favourite Video that has amazing 2D tricks in it

Hope everyone enjoys, partakes and gets inspired :)

Hey there diaboloites, sorry for the bombardment of overally average diabolo tricks but here's a shortish video i made out of some of the footage i had lying about the computer. And now that it is out i have no other reasons to not go out and film some more :)

How times passes and everybodys tricks seem to get more complicated and harder to understand.

however this will always remain one of my favourite sequences due to its pure beasting qualities.

Hey Hey folks.

i was in the midst of watching loads of new diabolo videos and trying to think of one to make for myself and then i realised that it was already June!
i know it might be slightly to early but theres no time like the present

Yep thats right, i thought i'd plant the seed. get everyone thinking about what they want to video, where they want the video and who they would like to see editing this year! anyone got any ideas or does anyone want to give it a go? Although i think its been discussed before that whoever is editing needs to have some experience and get the ok from the general people etc.

Hey Guys, so i decided to get off my lazy ass and make this diabolo video the other day while the weather was half decent, and then spent all of today editing it. This was amazing fun to make so i'm gonna have to try it again someday when the weather is awesome and my editing skills get a little better.

You know the drill, all criticism is welcome.  etc. etc.

saw this for the first time on firetoys. what advantages does this bring that the freestyle kit doesn't? they look basically exactly the same

Gear / Customizing/Making a Diabolo.
« on: September 28, 2012, 01:50:44 PM »
Hey Diaboloists, i just started back at college doing a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and in 1 of my classes the assignment we have been given is to do a project. Which is essentially taking a hobbie etc. and customizing something about it that you cant just buy on the shelves if that makes sense.

most people are doing **** like building parts for their bikes and cars and all that boring stuff but im gonna do mine on diabolo.

SO! first off, i found out the workshop we'll be using has a 3D scanner and stuff so my plan was gonna be to scan a finesse and make a mould of it, then creating a diabolo out of Carbon Fibre (which is going to be really interesting to try once its done).
I was then thinking of customizing my new finesse so it takes a ball bearing axle aswell for funsies.

That was my plan/idea, but what i want is your help to tell me what you think or even put down some of your own ideas or opinions to how diabolos could be improved and i could try and make some sort of awesome prototype or something. And then i'll show all you lovely people what its capable of.
