General / 3 year black out
« on: September 11, 2013, 11:59:03 AM »
Hey guys

I've been busy and uninteresting for the past 3 years. Unfortunately I got the itch again for diabolo again last month. Does anybody feel like telling me all the things i've missed out on in that time? anything from new equipment and people to amazing videos and other things and stuff?

Community & Events / my really long bike ride
« on: June 27, 2010, 08:30:50 PM »
so, i was looking at my schedule and i realised something. i have nothing to do during the whole of July and this led to the obvious conclusion that i should jump on my bike and and ride around England and Wales for a month. at the moment i think i'm going essex, croydon, maidenhead, bristol, cardiff, liverpool, dalton-in-furness, chesterfield, milton keynes. but i don't really care where i end up.

I'll be taking my diabolos and a bottle of lambs or stroh with me so if any of you guys fancy a session or a cream tea (or both) just message me via carrier pigeon, PM or a fast moving brick.

luv and kisses,
garner

General / a feed definition
« on: July 08, 2007, 05:21:35 PM »
could somebody please define the word 'feed' and 'unfeed'. for a use in something other than just suns

for example, could you not do continuous tranfers into and out of a sprinker and consider that a feed/unfeed sprinkler.

thoughts? feelings?

Tricks / unwrapped infinite suicide duicides
« on: May 16, 2007, 07:48:48 PM »
i thought i would see what you guys think about this trick.
 is it possible?
 has it been done?
the only thing i can imagine from it would be an unwrapped infinite suicide duicide and then catch the string into an integral mini genocide or something like that

thoughts?

Gear / kinetically powered light kit
« on: April 26, 2007, 09:37:54 PM »
is there one out, i don't think so. but i was thinking about this when i was highly intoxicated and it seemed to make some sense.i think i'll have a crack at describing itand hope that an engineer on the forum thinks it might be possible...

well first off i know that i couldnt just power a light kit from a spinning diabolo as there is no surface that isn't spinning.
what if a dynamo was put inside the cup of a diabolo but on a bearing so that it would be spinning at a different rate to the diabolo. to assist the slowing of the dynamo you could add magnets to the inside of the cup in a hope of preventing some angular 'stuff'.
so the generator is spinning at a different rate to the diabolo, so what... surely that means that, relative to the diabolo, the dynamo is spinning on its own (in the other direction to the way the diabolo would be) and therefore its producing AC current, right?
bish, bash, attach a little circuit that has a light source to make use of the current and your sorted.

issues i thought of were that the dynamo wouldn't really produce that much energy. got to be a way around that though.

on a simpler scale. anyone think i should make a wind up light kit?

Videos / lack of VOTWs
« on: April 10, 2007, 02:33:26 PM »
i've started a topic and there isn't a hyperlink for a video...hmmm...

i was actually going to ask the entire diabolo.ca community about the dying VOTW section. it makes me sad. with all you guys coming up with tricks and telling people that you've learnt them in the 'i just learnt to' thread there should be an abundance of footage coming from this forum. wheres that old thomas edison spirit. i still post a VOTW for judgement even if its to be rejected...

so c'mon guys, i know that winter has just been but i wanna see some cool tricks. please.

General / Ambidextrous diabolo issues
« on: September 12, 2005, 09:24:16 PM »
i'm left-handed but i do diabolo right-handed and when i was just doing one it made no odds but when i began to learn two i felt it gave me a severe disadvantage especially as my shuffle origonally went in the wrong direction (that took me about 3 weeks to change).

the only advice i got during that time was "YOU IDIOT, learn it left-handed" which i tried and failed. i still have problems just because my body really wants to go t'other way and i would appreciate any advice, comments or criticising insults. And does anyone else have that problem?
