Community & Events / EJC Meetup?
« on: July 14, 2014, 09:18:07 PM »
In the collaboration video topic the idea for people to meet up and record stuff together was pitched. I barely know the international circus community and it's safe to assume not all diaboloists are part of diabolo.ca, so who's for organizing to meet at a specific time on a particular day?

Below is the sitemap for the convention. Seems like the best place to keep an eye open would be in the main juggling space; given Priam's masterclasses,  meeting up around 3 or 4 (perhaps on Monday) could work out grand. Otherwise, I'll be carrying around my equipment all week if anyone wants to flag me down to record some footage.

Tricks / What do you wish you'd learned earlier?
« on: March 12, 2014, 09:43:06 PM »
Hey. I've been doing diabolo for about a year and a half; Last night, after showing someone how to do an internal/through the arm sun, I started to ask myself what kinds of tricks I'd probably show someone early on so they could understand diabolo better and therefore learn better. I learned how to do an inverse trapeze before a regular trapeze, for example, and it made darkside catches less confusing given the prior experience with how string would act when wrapped.

Is there anything you wish you'd learned earlier? Did some small but obvious realisation hit you for a move you'd been working on that made everything afterwards easier?

Gear / Any advice for string that goes through the handle?
« on: October 01, 2013, 11:34:02 PM »
Ordered DEOS handsticks from Oddballs last week; got them earlier today and spent a few minutes trying to string them to no avail. Tried just sliding/pushing it down and melting the end to a smaller tip, neither worked. Got suggestions to try and attach the ends to a thread and needle to push down but I think that sounds a bit excessively difficult. Is there a trick I'm unaware of? Been using Henry's short aluminums 'till now.

Gear / What tools should I get for disassembling/tightening my diabolo?
« on: August 23, 2013, 11:32:58 AM »
Hasn't really been an issue until now but as I find myself messing with my diabolos more I realised that trying to use two pairs of pliers was a bit more difficult than it should be. What'd comprise an "essential" kit of tools for someone doing diabolo?
