I've been put in charge of a quick games session for the sunday at Southern Lights. I was wondering if anybody had any fun diabolo [or juggling] games's that might make a change from the classics, don't worry guys and gals their will still be our favorite diabolo in a box.

I'm already planning on

-infinite suicided endurance
-2 D combat
- three club combat
- most manly poi act

chao for now!

hello all!

Their is a festival going on in pool dorset 13th-15th of June.

me and Ben Morgan are going, if you live in the south or even if you don't this should be a good laugh and dorset is a beautiful place.

I know the organisers they are a good bunch, think I'm compairing the renegade show [ being northan seemed to be the only qualification they think i needed] their will be diabolo workshops, not heard of the guy running it though, ill run a 1+2D intermediate trick workshop to.

If I like you, I can pick people up from the station on the firday night/sat morn before I start drinking.

i shall post a pdf flyer as soon as i know how .

dear .ca buds and well wishers, i have a tale of grate woe to tell.

My female lady partner Ruth was rather selfishly scheduled her birthday this year for December the 8th. Which by a cruel twist of fate is the date of the Leeds juggling convention. Now most women i imagine would love to tern 23 at spinks house drunk, followed by a day of beer and juggling. BUT not this lady. Theirfore I still haven't been to the Leeds convo and with my chainsaw wielding job and lack of coordination that all who have seen me diabolo will vouch for maybe never will!.

Have you ever had to sacrifice a day of diabolo? buying a diabolo? watching a diabolo vid, cut short a conversation about wether you can find a 9th element 3rd Base trick due to a romantic link, male or female ? If so I would love to hear from you.

to quote a popular folkrock combo. "everybody hurts take comfort in friend"  ;)

hello to all.

time for some universal truths.

1] diabolo is awesome
2] poker is awesome
3] most of us use msn or could do
4] you can play texas hold-em on msn against friends or randoms.

ergo, I was thinking it would be fun to organise a msn poker tournament. .It would take abit of effort to find a time enoughs people can do. I was thinking something like 9.O'Clock sunday night. maybe abit later or earlier depending on timezone stuff.

I wanted lots of people to see this so I didn't go offtopic.

please reply, PM or add me if your game.

Community & Events / Boudu festival 2006 report
« on: June 14, 2006, 04:41:48 PM »
hello all

On my travels around Europe, happened to be in a juggling shop in Toulouse [ a mighty fine one if your ever in that area] the psychotic juggler, to spot a poster for the festival starting that very same day.

one very accommodating girlfriend and a 20 euro tent later I was off to Boudu.

i thought id post my experiences of attending a festival abroad as a mid level diabolist. I know the top level guys travel to festivals abroad but as just a random it was a awesome experience.

Plus points
Seeing lots of top guys including diaboloumberto do lots of new stuff that will tern up in vids and performances. [Ive defiantly got lots of stuff to practise, modify and pass off as my own in the uk.

Meeting loads of diabolists who read this forum,

Seeing a totally different approach to a juggling festival, the increased amount of concept, humour and "proformance" in the shows. Is really impressive and interesting. plus the live music and impressive drunken open stage late into the night

minus points [that dident really matter]

due to my non existent French missing all workshops and any inshow diabolo doh!

my own macho "its not cold in France” attitude that lead me to not bother to buy a sleeping bag and freeze every night.

how depressingly high the level of technical skill the French have at diabolo

failing miserably to do a high throw and a trick whist skipping  over a rope held by two other people on games day

all in all i wanted to post to recommend it to any english speaker to attend festivals in other countries even if your not gonna waw everybody with your skills, as soon as i picked up my alus i was another diaboloist and that was the great.

hi everybody

I’ve been reading the posts on this site for a while now and have got loads of good advice and info from it,  so cheers to everybody who posts

At the bar in the royal music collage [just ask at reception when you get to the building] opposite the aquatic centre on oxford road on Thursday nights 7 till 11 all are welcome to come do their stuff

[we have equipment for juggling, poi, diabolo] but we welcome any other circus skills,

At the moment only a couple of us are doing diabolo, including me [ a pretty average 1d guy]

It would be great if anybody eles wants to come down, there’s no charge and a cheap bar, any other questions just ask
