Diabolo.ca Policy & Feedback / Diabolo.ca - An english Jongle.net?
« on: June 21, 2005, 06:58:49 PM »
I agree with what Sean said about the niche, this forum fills it purpose wonderfully and I think (my opinion) that for juggling and other hobbys like it have most of the forums they need in english on sites like
www.jugglingdb.com
www.theyo.com
www.contactjuggling.com
www.unicyclist.com
www.homeofpoi.com
www.footbag.com
and to have them on this site would be kinda pointless(just my thought on it).

As for splitting the forum up I am not sure, to a point it might be good, but I really don't have much problem the way it is.

I was watching some videos and it got me thinking. Why do people come to watch diabolo performances?
It's not as well known to most people like juggling, it does not make a lot of pretty patterns like poi, its not as magical as CJ, So why do people come and watch it?

I am just curious what other people think about this.

Tricks / Mega Cracker problems
« on: December 04, 2004, 01:55:46 AM »
I was practicing again tonight and found that it is not my string at all. It is my stick hitting the diabolo. my problem is how do I stop it from hitting it (it does not do this when I do the firecracker by its self).

Thanks for the tips. I would try the infintit suicide but there is a foot of snow out side (and soooo cold) and the spot I am aloud to diabolo in has a roof that is to short.

Tricks / Mega Cracker problems
« on: December 02, 2004, 05:21:55 AM »
I have been messing around with suicides and was trying to do this one (mega cracker) but can never do it right. When I try and do it I can get to the last part (throwing and catching it) then either the stick does not come all the way around or the diabolo has lost all of it's spin and starts winding the string. Why is this happening and how can I complete the trick?

for all those who don't know what the mega cracker is it can be found here http://diabolotricks.com/C-suicides.htm

Thanks

Gear / Braided Dacron for string (the spectra had problems)
« on: November 29, 2004, 06:10:14 PM »
I had to switch strings from spectra, even though it had nice low friction it had the problem that when I messed up on some tricks it would knot and it is very hard to get knots out of spectra (its slick and small).

So I switched to Braided Dracron and heres what I have found.

Ups (compaired to Spectra):

1. Dacron is tightly bound (weaved?) so that when you compress it does not come loose.

2. The string is a little bigger then spectra so (for me) it is littler easier to see, catch, and play with.

3. It is a lot easier to get out of knots.

Problems that I had with Dacron

1. it is not quite as slick as spectra(low friction) so it looses spin a little faster.

2. If you are going to use Dacron make sure to get more that 50 LB test. This is what I am using and I have broken a few times (when the diabolo bit it)

This is all that I have noticed right now. This is probibly the string that henry uses (although I really don't know).

Gear / Spectra for string.
« on: November 11, 2004, 05:38:40 PM »
I really don't know if it compresses well. How can I compress it and what would I need? I once tried to make myself a yo-yo string out of it but I could not compress it.
