you should be able to hold the cups and screw in opposite directions untill the nuts start turning together and then hold one cup and the opposite nut and continue to screw opposite ways

Performing / Re: How much have you be paid for a performance?
« on: October 21, 2007, 02:18:32 PM »
I charge 300 AU$ for my old trad routine

and i'm going to charge 500 AU$ for my new samurai routine

i left the New Zealand circus School Last year and am now living in melbourne as a professional juggler
circus creator/teacher/performer

so far this year i've had my old trad routine booked once
and in the couple of weeks since my new routine i've had strong interest

there's more reguler money in teaching circus

u get what u ask for

but people always want to pay you less

Videos / Jedi Samurai Diabolo Routine
« on: October 20, 2007, 02:02:30 AM »
My newest Diabolo routine
that i've been working towards for the last year or so

Performed at the MJC 2007
Melbourne, Australia

all the body/diabolo wrapping stuff i have termed "Sweeping"
if anyone wants additional diabolo jargon for their vocabulary

Diabolo With a character= strong routine

Paying someone to make a costume for you = Good looking routine

I'm very happy with it
but looking forward to extending the charactor more

filmed from a little bit far away but your'll get the gist of it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK8h3ZEKnXk

enjoy

Tricks / Re: vertax catches
« on: October 19, 2007, 12:27:27 AM »
depends what trick your doing

if you want to practice "normal" catches, unwrap with right stick, throw diabolo backwards over your left shoulder then spin and catch beside your right stick

don't rush it slower looks more graceful

General / Re: bearing diabolo is it cheating??
« on: October 10, 2007, 06:09:07 AM »
I also find it funny how much people are getting worked up about this diabolo schism.

I am very happy with our community that people haven't (yet) started flaming each other
a sign of emotional health for our subsection of the juggling community

I haven't played with bearings for more than a few minutes
and like the idea of them

but when i see a hard trick done with bearing diabolo
like will from tasmania doing excalibur S-fan
i want to see it done with fixed bearings because that is where my standards are set

bearings are a shortcut
cheating is definetly the wrong word

shortcuts arn't for everyone

do what you want and lets keep showing each other the different bounderys we are pushing
