General / New TRICK... Stopping a swinging stick with my EYEBALL!!!
« on: October 31, 2008, 10:29:28 PM »
I think I may have just temporarily blinded myself, or at least I feel that way.  I happened to have the bottom of the stick go right into my eye.  I think I will be ok, but I wanted to see what other injuries other people have gotten, or if I am the only dumb ass out there!

Mod move: merged yours with this - now you can see all the injuries.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Henry's "Twist" axle and the "all-around".  I was going to get the "all-arounds" but thought that the twist had a wider metal part and would tangle up even less.  I do 1d and 2d with original Circus axles right now.

Thanks, I AM waiting too long.  I will try to get the string before it even leaves the string.

Martijn, thanks for your wraps video.  Just a question though: are you pulling your left hand up and left (like starting the mini-columns trick) on purpose?  I am still working on making my wraps look smooth and saw your left hand doing that.

Tricks / Re: Starting and correcting 2 diabolos
« on: October 29, 2008, 05:14:38 PM »
I am definitely no pro, as I have just learned my first few 2d tricks but I found that tapping to correct was extremely hard because of the timing and aim.  I found that if I launched the diab higher and focused on barely touching any cup, but followed the trajectory helped.  What really messed me up was trying to figure out which and where to touch it.  By the time I figured it out, the diablo was too messed up.  So I needed to learn to follow the path of the diablo first.  I only tapped the top near cup even if it was the wrong direction.  I also never focused on catching the diablo at first.  These things allowed me to focus on one thing at a time.  Then it was easier to just figure out which cup to tap after I could successfully tap the cup.  Breaking this into individual components for you to learn is the way to go.

Gear / Re: Re-newing your string
« on: October 29, 2008, 05:25:32 AM »
I actually just played with this idea tonight.  I took some Dry Silicone Spray and saturated the string.  It made the string WAY too slippery.  I couldnt speed up the diabolo without 2-3 wraps!  I use original Circus. I think that I used way too much of the spray.  I will play with this idea because I think that if I keep the spray 3 feet away or so, it might renew the string to a perfect perfect level.  I will let you know.  The reason DRY silicone is used is because it repels dirt that could get into the string and make it ultra sticky in the near future.  This problem would happen with other types of sprays such as WD-40 or regular lubricants.  That is why you never use those lubes on skateboarding bearings or other high speed moving parts that may get dirty.  I will update this when I have it perfected.

I have to say that the flip at the beginning was hilarious.  Didn't fit but good job.  Music could have been a little less dramatic and more beat to keep the interest.  Good moves overall!!!
