Very nice!  This video is everything that is right with the diabolo art form!

My favorites
0:45 - would look great for a performance!
1:45 - I really like the way the camera panned across the graffiti and captured your 3d suns.
2:40 - The finger grind was nice!

Tricks / Re: Mini genocide Backwrap
« on: April 26, 2010, 01:53:06 PM »
Ben, it's the angle that your string is attacking the diabolo that you have to change.  Try moving your hand forward a bit while the stick and string are swinging around and the diabolo is suspended in the air.  This movement should force the string between your hand and the diabolo forward and allow the stick and the string on the other side of the diabolo to pass behind, during the wrap.  If it doesn't work, try moving your hand the other way.  It also may the the way you release the stick at the start of the trick, which would cause the stick to swing at an angle that would cause the front wrap.

If I have front wrap and back wrap mixed up, just do the opposite of what I said.

The difference between a front wrap and a back wrap is an inch or less.

On a side note, that is a lovely yard you have.

I'm glad to see more girls getting into the art of diaboloing.

Nice tricks.  I have only one recommendation.  Try to get your axle during vertax totally vertical.  That will allow you to explore the wonders of vertax even better!

General / What happened to the stars of Diabolo Follies?
« on: April 16, 2010, 07:25:22 PM »

I recently received Diabolo Follies on DVD for Christmas and was wondering what happened to the stars of the film.  I'm sure Mr. Babache is still busy making tons of money, but what about the other two performers.  I don't remember their names.  They were French names.  The only thing French about me is my last name, so I can't remember their names.  It seems that they would have had a great headstart on all of us, since they were the superstars of diabolo back in 1993.

Does anyone have any information?

I like it a bunch.  I'll learn the trick and perform it for the kids.

I really appreciated the scenery!  Being an outdoorsman, I guess I should have.  The tricks were nice, but I just am not interested enough to go out and try any.

Looks cool!  I have seen other videos with diabolos and rings, but the diabolos are usually sped up by a string and then put in the ring.

On a side note.  I believe you'll start getting some plastic wearing onto your axles by the rings.

Make sure you always wear gloves while doing the electrical work.  A smashed finger would really hamper your performance! :(

Thanks for your input.

However, I have one request.  As new people join the forum, they may not realize that we have many users who have learned English as a second language and even some who use translation software to read our posts.  We should all set a goal of using proper English to the best of our abilities, in order to make the forum accessable to the maximum number of people.  My request is that you abide by this standard.

Thank you for your understanding.

Gear / Re: Mister Babache Light kit batteries
« on: March 19, 2010, 01:00:54 PM »
It seems to me that you could purchase these batteries at a Radio Shack (or whatever electronics store you have in your country).  Just bring them in and get a close match.  They need to be 1.5 volts each.  I'm not sure about the other specifications.  Just make sure that they fit into the slots and there is a good connection.

As for me, I don't mind recharging my batteries, even though they start dimming after 15 - 20 minutes.

Gear / Re: Diabolo Phoenix stuck in fixed axle
« on: March 17, 2010, 05:33:08 PM »
From a reliability engineering standpoint, I wouldn't expect the Phoenix to be very reliable.  In other words, I would expect this problem to be very prevalent.  I'm not familiar with the mechanics of the axle, but it's hard to have the best of both worlds (fixed and bearing).  I'm sure it can be corrected, but the user shouldn't be burdened by these kind of issues.
