4 Diabolo Hover Start - Rennes 2010

First convention in a couple of year, been too long.  Extra-string theory workshop Ceri-Anne?

I'm keeping it brief as it's bedtime but consider basic reasons too.

Lifestyles change and our routines change.  I spent an unhealthy amount of time on here when at uni (should have been studying) and could dedicate a couple of hours each day to contributing on here but now find myself with less time and less motivation to do so.  If I have an hour spare after work on a weekday I'd rather be diaboloing than talking about it.

I rarely visit the forum anymore but will always pop back to check the communal board and see who's going to what.

Sorry guys but I think a majority of the 'old' posters have simply moved on.  There's less thought out posting these days based around new topics with a lot of the same stuff coming up.  Alot of material in videos these days doesn't motivate me and I've missed the days of seeing genuinely different and interesting diaboloists creating videos.  I barely venture past the homepage as any new topics tend to pop up there.

I'll finally sort some summer footage out and post a video towards the end of the year, maybe as a 'so long, thanks for the memories, here's a leaving present'.

One love

Looby, I didn't see you?! :(

I had a wonderful time at my very first but definitely not last BJC!

Sorry Ceri-Anne, I had to sort out a lot of s*** last week and none of it good unfortunately.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, gutted I missed out!

Pending house construction and decorating I may see you folks at the weekend.  It'll be a flying visit but a decent one no doubt, motivation being:

Sean (always prime company)
Nev (need I say more)
Funty (been far too long)
Ollie (as above)
Jonny and Anne (are they there?)
Ceri-Anne (need to be educated in the ways of string pulling specialities)!
and the other usual suspects

Hopefully see you there

Lovely stuff man, hope to see you in France again this year!

I'd love to get back up to York for this as i've missed out the last few Chocfests, but its a long expensive way from Salisbury by train. Is anyone driving up from the southwest/Bristol that I could lift share with and contribute to petrol? Ideally heading up friday night and coming back sunday afternoon.

Community & Events / Leeds Juggling Convention 3rd December
« on: November 26, 2011, 11:05:48 PM »
My first UK convention this year, I know, poor show....

Would be good to see some usuals.  I'll be mostly trying a collab trick over and over and over again, other than that some ball and cup.

This is being made far too complicated.

Keep it free

Keep it silly

Keep it real

The collab should be your moment to shine, whether you're the kind of juggler that goes to conventions for 7 years but still can't fan (but you can do the kind of **** that makes crackers smile) or if you're a kid from Finland.  If you submit one video clip over the entire year, or if it's all you do over the course of the year, do it in the collab.  This is the single event that rekindles my love for this prop and every time this moment comes round, it's made in to much more of a deal than it needs to be.

Why leave out entries we don't feel 'fit in', take everything, if it could be filmed in better light then suggest that, leaving beginners out because of their skill level is exactly what the collab shouldn't be.  As amazing as Nico's effort was last year (seriously good work man) I would rather we stopped beating around the bush, started filming, and get this ball rolling before we regret running out of time.

Rant over, make it happen!

P.S  I would edit (poorly) but it's a busy run up to the end of the year for me.  Hard enough finding the time to post this.  I will however submit something to make your stomach turn.

I'm a leeds resident, need to make my way to the leeds club at some point as iv neglected my juggling duties. got a busy month coming up but should be available in a couple of weeks. you also get the benefit of not learning any of this new school bull. i'll teach you proper diabolo and the kind of stuff that makes the opposite sex weep at the knees!

text 'keen' to 80338 :)

seriously though, im about so if you want some juggling time/ a beer let me know

Damnnnnnn, that was insane! Me and dave were trying something similar in rennes. I was trying to shuffle two diabolos through his 3d shuffle, doesnt sound tricky on paper but the body positioning is really awkward.

Glad to see it done properly.

I wanted to do a proper write up but I'll be here for hours.

Let's just say, that was the greatest convention ever organised anywhere, ever.  Everything except the weather was perfect.

Great turnout, met some amazing people, laughed a lot, ate some amazing food, juggled more than usual and some of the most ridiculous **** I will ever witness.

Thank you Regis and Rennes once again for the highlight of my year :-*
