Technical / Re: Nikon D3200: yay or nay for filming a diabolo vid?
« on: August 10, 2012, 12:21:58 AM »
I don't think it is entirely necessary to buy a dslr just for filming.  I use a nikkon Coolpix l810 and it works fine.  If your planning on getting in to photography or serious film making, invest in a dslr, but keep in mind that lenses sometimes cost more than the camera itself.

Typically, stating that you are lazy over and over again won't get you any part of it.

If your talking to me i already know how to, the video was just rushed. If not, it depends, some people think it helps others don't.

I was just posting a general tip, don't have to get so defensive over it.

You probably should make sure you know how to do wrapped mini's and have a solid infinite before you start integrals.  Start with tomicides and play around with the the timing of stick releases and what not.  Integrals are not tricks that you can jump straight into, so its best to be patient and get an understanding of how they work.

Recently had one of those "aha" moments when in comes to integrals.  If you treat an integral as if it were a genocide rather than a rather confusing mess of sticks flying through the air, it seams to be much easier.  I guess the flailing sticks are much less scary when you recognize that the trick your doing is just a modified version of what you already know.

General / Time Signatures
« on: March 08, 2012, 04:05:08 AM »
Today, whilst searching for a song for a performance, I came across one I wanted to use.  After listening to the song multiple times, I noticed that the song was in 3/4 time.  Then it dawned on me.  In theory, one routine could be performed in different ways depending on the time signature of the song it is matched with.  Furthermore, the time signature could also affect multiple diabolo play.  1 diabolo would be well suited for any time signature value because the tricks can be subdivided into any amount of beats, whereas 2 diabolos would serve best in 4/4 time because it can be subdivided into even numbers, and would probably be least effective in 3/4 time because of those very same subdivisions.

Anyways, I found my own thoughts very interesting, and therefore, would like to hear those of others.

I'm always surprised how few people have Zeekio Diabolos www.zeekio.com

I have about 15 diabolos and half are zeekio.  I prefer my zeekio typhoon to my MB Finesse.  I definately take the zeekio Sidewinder over any other 4 inch diabolo on the market.  I will say that the Zeekio triple threat is the heaviest diabolo I've found and I don't like near as much as my Sundia Wide axel.  Sundia is a great diabolo for the money, just a little pricey.

Probably because every zeekio diabolo is a cheap rip-off of another diabolo?

I would reccomend the sundia kits and sticks. I've had a much better experience with those as opposed to babache

I'm looking for Revolution kit that fits a g3 finesse.  Looks like a fun toy.  I am willing to pay with money and shipping.  Whoever is willing will get some major brownie points in my book.

Performing / Performance Tips
« on: February 12, 2012, 09:33:18 PM »
Hello ladies and gentlemen.  In little less then one year, I will likely be performing at the MadFest stage show.  The only problem is that I have never performed on a stage before, nor have I ever came up with a routine before.  The show is going to be a glow show with led kits.  I have all of the necessary equipment at my disposal (thanks to mom and dad from christmas).  I'm looking to set it to some techno music and encompass 1 and 2 diabolos.  I have no idea how long the performance should be, nor do I know a song.  Regardless, those are things I can figure out on my own.  Knowing all of the marvelous performers on here, would somebody be so kind as to give a 15 year old kid some tips on his first stage performance?  I'm nervous being on such a big stage with well over one thousand people watching and I almost feel like this is over my head.  Nevertheless, I am determined to rock this performance.  -Sean Looby

Gear / Re: Medium or Large for 2D?
« on: December 27, 2011, 07:29:38 AM »
Go with the large diabolo.  The four large diabolos that i consider the most "popular" are the finesse, sundia sun, circus, and taibolo pro v2.  the sun, the finesse, and the circus are all heavier diabolos whereas the taibolo is very light, only slightly heavier than a glary.  Being that i prefer heavier diabolos, i would choose one of those three.  Personally, i like suns, so thats what i'm going to recommend, but all four are fantastic diabolos
