« on: January 09, 2011, 08:14:31 PM »
Hi diabolo freaks,

I just finished this clip to promote my street show based on the character of Diabolord.
The clip lasts 6 min but the show lasts 40min, and it has been filmed last summer in Aurillac, the International Street Theater Festival in France.
Nothing really new, I just have a lot of fun when I perform it.
Feel free to invite me performing it where you live :-) .

Hope you enjoy.

The show "Tombés de Haut" by Cie Gaveo is more a family show, for kids and non-jugglers adults.
We (Fred (Codfish on and me) perform it in street festivals in France during summer.
The story is about a juggling master (Fred) who is asked to teach diabolo to a total beginner (me).
And finally the student overtake the master...

The technics is not very high, we are more looking for impressive or ununderstandable tricks, and duo tricks.
And we try to be funny, to make people laughing while diaboloing, and that's harder that any trick we do....

My actual size ?
1.95 m which makes something like 6.40 ft.
I always thought being tall was an asset to play diabolo :-)

Thanks everybody for your comments.
To make the video I wanted something clean so I removed few parts of the normal routine like huges genocides with 1, 2d leg sat tricks and 3low tricks (2d sun and feed the sun).

I am still not decided if I have to keep the costum or not.
Most people like it, but some of them think it's too much so it hides the technic.
Some other people think the diabolos are too small or I am too big and wide behind them, should I use biggers ones (****ty ones) ?

Id you have an opinion, tell me what you think, it's useful for me.

And I try to re-film it again with better light and video quality.

PS : wanna laugh ?

Everything is fixed now, because May started this morning.

The bandwidth quota of April has been overtaken. has a new host for one week, and Arjan was beta-testing a new feature, and he did his work so well that he used too much bandwidth...

woow how nice is that! My roommate is asking if you do have a normal life, next to your diabolo :).

A normal life ?
Quite normal yes, but I really like to have 2 quarter time jobs (artist and web teacher), to have time to train et build up shows..

Keep up inspiring everyone :)

Filmed at the convention of Ieper 2006 (Belgium) by Captain Buisson, here comes the end of my act at the gala show, in a 15m high hall (which is a pure happyness).

It's only a 1 minute 3 diabolos run with differents high/low tricks, and a qualified 4 diabolos run (10 catches)

Because I want good diabolists to come, please apologize me for promoting this :

From the 22th to the 26th of May 2006, the Katakomben Juggling School in Berlin (Germany) will host the first 5 days 2 diabolos workshop of ever, with Priam PIERRET (me).

Here is an extract of the information on the official website :

The 2 diabolos technique has been increasing very fast in the past few years, the concept of rhythm and siteswap theory have been introduced, and many new trick concepts have been developed, generating hundreds of new tricks .

After introducing the new concepts and terms, we will review the main families of tricks with 2 diabolos, and we will use creativity methods to extend these families.

The last day is dedicated to the learning methods of 3 diabolos (high, low, start, shuffle, tricks).

2pm - 6:30pm each day, €180 (inc. all day room use)

About Priam PIERRET:
Professionnal diabolist for few years with 2 cabaret acts, he directed "DIABOLOGY", the diabolo DVD made by the best french diabolists (The Mad French Posse). He creates dozens of tricks with 1 and 2 diabolos, and he was the first to use the siteswap theory applied to diabolo to creates many new 3 diabolos moves. As a computer science engineer, he developped DSSS, a diabolo siteswaps simulator, and he's teaching worshops across Europe since 2002. Priam placed 3rd to the WJF diabolo world championships in 2004, and he is now working on a long show for theaters.

And that's not all folks, the Berlin Juggling Convention (one of the best in Europe, considering that Berlin is the most juggling city of the world) starts the 25th of may until the the 28th, so you can combine long workshop + convention + discovering the wonderful city of Berlin (where there is a different juggling meeting every evening).

I really hope to have diabolists as good as possible, to go as far as we can. The language of the workshop is english spoken by a non native speaker, so it is understandable by all the non native english speakers of Europe. The school can also provides rooms for cheap. If you are interested, don't lose time to register since there a limit of 12 participants, and most of the workshops in the Katakomben are full.

Thanks everybody for your comments.
Actually I feel the 3d sun easier to exit that way.
I'm now working on many variations of the Feed The Sun family trick ... (so long to work on 3d tricks... )

Priam, where do you perform these days? (like, what kinds of venues and how often, and with which act (I only know of two)). I'm planning on doing performing professionally in europe after college, and I was wondering what is like for you.

Since october I perform mainly around Bordeaux with Jonglargonne, and for few weeks in the cabaret "Le Grain d'Folie" in Bordeaux with 3 acts (2 diabolos acts and a bouncing ball act).
I'm gonna be with Trash, Eric & Antonin in Ieper Convention (Belgium, 25/02/2006), and I will move abroad many times in 2006, particulary in Berlin at the end of May for a 5-days workshop ( ), juste before the Berlin juggling convention where I'll perform ).

Winter is time to renew acts, so I have new dresses for both of my diabolos act (new acts videos here : , but only with the luminous dress).
I am also creating 2 new duo acts :
- Compagnie Gavéo : a street show with Fred (Codfish) (clubs, balls, cigar boxes and diabolos until 6)
- unnamed long show for theater, at the really beginning of creation.
Another shows website will come before spring.

Hope to reach my paradise soon.

Alan forgot to say that Donald's workshop is only about 1 diabolo skills, and mine will be only about 2 diabolos skills and a bit of 3 (precise content coming soon).

« on: October 10, 2005, 11:10:00 PM »
Heah sweety!

It's true that I have 5 of this dark original orange, and this orange was replaced by a lighter orange. I bought 3 of them new 4 years ago, I bought 3 second hand ones in juggling conventions, and I lost 1.

Check the color here :

These are my training diabolos for 4 years now, I am really in love with them, and I use all of them because I just started to work on the 5d high start (but I can swap with another color to train this).

So Lena the only thing I can do now is lending 1 to you until your or me buy another second hand one in a juggling convention, so please everybody keep on looking for the lost dark orange diabolos, Lena or me could do a lot for them :-)

Bonus thing : this is a good occasion to release the trailer of the show we do Lena and me (website coming soon).
Check it out there (MPEG 24 Mo):

We've got the DVD for 2 days....
We do entire routines for the 5 finalists (5*4min), and 20 minutes exhibition of all the diabolists. The same for cigars boxes.

I should not say that is just some mad stuff...

Nice that they finally got Ryo.
Actually they asked me to come (and I think I should thank sensei Matt for that), but I was already engaged in a show in France, I was so disapointed not to be able to come.

Hope it's going to be a great time.

Congratulation Saito for placing 3rd at the 1d competition !
(3rd is quite a good place actually :-)
It looks like you worked a lot since we met in Bordeaux 6 months ago, and your routine is like the most european routine I've seen from a japanese guy, diabolists from Bordeaux can be proud of it....

Keep on diaboloing !

PS : I used your last present on stage at the EJC...

Other kinds of diabolo are also used by other pro diabolists :
- Donald Grant (UK) and Jonas Zeller (CH) : Renegade
- Lena Köhn, Alexander Xelo and Tom Future (Thomas Furtner, all german) : ultra-light circus (not only the teflon cones).

Gear / Mister Babache string
« on: July 24, 2005, 08:55:15 PM »
I use the MB yellow string for one year about, and I really like it, mainly because it's usable as soon as you put it, so it's perfect for me, just before a show, I change my string and it's good.
I don't use the white MB string so I can't compare.
The MB yellow string is also bigger than the Henry's yellow one, so it's more visual for shows (especially for my luminous UV act). But, for the same reason, the Henry's one lasts longer than the MB one, and this is not a problem for me since I've got the MB one for free...
