i'll prolly end up getting em all, just wanted to know which was best. Is Diabology region free? I'm in the US so if it's region 2 I'll need to wait till I get my region free DVD player.

yeah, I saw the trailor for that and I really want it. Hows the tutorial part? Do they break it down slow to learn or just demo the tricks?

I hear that. I do most of my practicing at work (cubicles) but twice a week when I go to acting class I can practice before and after in the black box theatre (bout half a gym). It really helps not fearing everything around you.

okay, I guess it just comes down to practice then...maybe I need a shorter string, I'd really like to tackle a fan next. Don't wanna clip my jaw.

I have two henry's circus and I'm trying to learn two diabolos. I can currently get two going and do basic trapeze stalls and "almost" got a basic sprinkler down, but I was wondering if anyone uses diabolos smaller than a 5 inch? I was thinking about getting a pair of Jazz's or Beaches. Are these okay? Good or bad things about then? I'm pretty short (5'4") and I thought maybe I could handle smaller diabolos a tad better if they were more size appropriate to me.

this is the method I learned with if anyone cares. Once I figured out the correct wrap it was just a matter of making sure it spun straight

Just tonight, after three days of trying to figure out the wrap on the video that Tahia sent me....I've been able to do a 2 diabolo shuffle. Granted neither diabolos are straight with each other, I can still do it. Gotta work on that correction though before I can learn any tricks but I'm sooo proud of myself. You don't even need much cieling which is good for me.

So I know this is really low level stuff for you guys, but I've been working on this hard for 2 days now.

that was sweet....what kind of diabolo is that...I have a circus and small hands but I don't think the gap is big enough for me to try a grind like that.

I really like the whip attempts!

still trying to learn a two diabolo shuffle

I "get" the idea with the quick launch and the backwrap floor start, just haven't gotten it down yet. I did get a taste of what it'll "feel" like once I get it going. I have a friend just starting with one and I had him toss me a diabolo into my already spinning single and I did two shuffles before it flew out. Felt pretty good and I think it'll help me practicing on my own so I'll know what feels right.

thanks for the links!

So i'm trying the floor start as shown on thediabolo.com and it's not working. I can't get the diabolo to pop straight up. It's going to my left. I can't get the hand start at all..are there any other floor starts I can try?

Age: 26

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
nearly one

2. What or who got you started?
I used to yoyo a lot (still do) and I kept seeing diabolos on sites so I bought a Circus

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
It's bigger than a yoyo. people see yoyos all the time even if they don't see the crazy newer tricks that can be done, it's still a "kids toy". For a lot of people they've never seen a diabolo. I like being that guy.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
I keep it with me at work. Wife won't let me diabolo in the house.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
No, not really good at all

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
I'd like to get some devil sticks. Juggling would be awesome, but I need to learn one thing at a time.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
I've only even had a Circus. I spose I started with a good one though. I still have the wooden sticks and string, but I'm upgrading this year since i've stuck with it.

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
I'm getting my second Circus this weekend!

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
Just a basic whip I guess. I can do most basic tricks, (whip, suicide, grind, sun). The suicide is tough at work, but people get a kick out of the whip.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
It was a two person trick. One guy tossed it up and the second walked in front of him, did a whip and then followed the motion through letting go of both sticks and then the first guy caught the sticks.

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
whip catch behind my back, I've only done it twice.

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
i don't know any.

Well this is me. I'm so glad to find an english speaking forum. Finally a resource!
