Tricks / Re: What trick are you most proud of?
« on: November 04, 2006, 12:46:01 PM »
Between the legs sun is one of my favorites. When I was learning it I kept smacking myself, but now it's a very slick trick.
Haha I really know how you feel! I had the same with a sun behind the back between the legs... If it goes wrong that way it could be painful. I still have a scar on my belly from my first practise session this summer :(

The first time I did an inf. suicide was also great! I thought I would never learn a trick like that, but then suddenly I got it! Just like minigenosides - feels great.

But if I had to choose, I would choose the rubberarm to monorail combo! Especialy the moment when the first tricks goes into the second trick feels great.

Yeah, the ending of the movie does suggest that there will be other parts :)

By the way, about the 2d excalibur - I have a movie on my computer somewhere where somebody does an 2d exalibur attempt and almost succeeds! He keeps on spinning around, wraps the 2nd diabolo in the string, makes some speed an tries a few suns, but then he fails... looks cool :) When I get home again I'll try to see the name of the movie and/or maybe upload it!
even if it does fail. I WANT TO SEE IT!! sort us out with a link or somthing

Had to search for a while, but here it is: http://diabolumberto.free.fr/freestyle_de_la_convention_de_br.htm
Thierry is the one who tries 2d vertax :)

If it isn't something you filmed yourself, most of us have probably seen it. I bet it's Thierry's attempt from the Bruxelles freestyle 2004.
Yes it is :) thank you for telling the name and place :)

Performances / Re: Cirque Du Soliel Diabolo Act

(...)
There are also two acts in other shows (La Nouba and Quidam), you could say are, 'cloned', but there are some minor differences.  Either way, there are always three Chinese girls, and they perform to music, passing two each other with traditional Chinese yo-yos with a holographic sticker plastered on front.

However, as with most non-diabolo familiar folk, it always gets a standing ovation.

In this movie, there are four.. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2159643482897850631&q=diabolo :)

The level of diabolo isn't that high, but they made an okay show :)

General / Re: "Why did I do that?"
« on: September 21, 2006, 11:11:30 AM »
I once was in a park and someone asked me how high I could toss the diabolo in the air. It was quite crowded, but as it wasn't all that windy I figured I could toss it as high as possible. too bad there was a bit of wind high in the air and when the diabolo came down it went towards a group of people sitting in the park, not knowing what was about to happen. oops.... :)  I really was very lucky to get the diabolo out of the air by whipcatch just in time, because otherwise I don't know the little girl that was beneath it would have survived...  Next time I'll watch carefully if there is enough space to do something like that!

Something else, a bit more painful was a attempt for a sun between the legs from back to front. I wasn't wearing a shirt so the spinning diabolo hit my belly to leave a burnmark which you can still see after 2 months...

I'm New / Re: Introduce yourself
« on: August 30, 2006, 12:53:45 PM »
Name: Stijn Biemans
Location: Utrecht
Age: 21
Website: http://www.punksquad.nl

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
This is my 3rd summer

2. What or who got you started?
Found an small, old diabolo in the shed. took two drumsticks and some rope and made my own sticks. Had to study for my final exams, but didn't want to. discovered the options and didn't stop :)

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
I think it's amazing how you can 'play' with gravity. a small movement from my hand in the right direction can cause a big and beautiful reaction. Really like the feel of it! also learning and thinking of new tricks feels good.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
15 to 30 min., when I have a day off and the weather is good maybe even 1,5 hours.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Not on intention, but I like to diabolo in parks or at beachparty's, and there are enough people there who can (and do) watch

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
When I was about 12 years of age I bought a yo-yo and learned a couple of tricks. I even got my silver yoyo examn or something, haha. I can also do some basic stuff with 3 balls, but nothing much.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
I like my Henry's Jazz, because they are small enough to fit in my bags, they are strong enough to not bend and stay oval and they are steady enough to do some more difficult tricks with. I also like my Finesse, because of the fact I have a light kit

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
I like one a lot because I can do the most with one, but I'm busy learning two and that looks awsome too.

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
I especialy like it if the rope is around my body or limbs and it looks like you could never get it back in normal position, but I do think it's difficult. Also genosides feel great :)

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
Too many to tell :) If I watch some of the movies here I keep beeïng amazed

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
excalibur magic knot to whip catch, aargh :P

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?[/url]
Many of them, couldn't tell any names..
